April 27th 1971 was my first game at the Lane.

It was the legendary game where we beat Cardiff 5-1 when they were just ahead of us. We still had to beat Watford to go up but it was the Cardiff game that made it possible.

April 27th is our date - the football gods work in mysterious ways.

And also on this date, my old mom huffed and puffed but didn’t let me enter the world because she knew if she waited for just a few more hours that 61 years later I would witness our beloved Blades celebrate promotion to the premier league on my birthday!
