shame but to be fair they were never going to get overturned were they ? more likely they would have been viewed as frivolous and west ham would have been awarded extra points for the hardship their fans have had to suffer having to listen to each others mockney accents
 
No surprise really is there?
I think the appeals were prompted by financial reasons rather than any real expectation of the cards being demoted to yellow. FA never like to undermine the referee no matter how bad they are.

Selection headache then for DW for sure.
All league games as well - another cost of not getting into the next round of the league cup

I would like to see us go with a couple of straight swaps, Harriot for Doyle and McFadzean for Flynn.
At least for the Bury at home game as they're not exactly going to be the toughest opposition.

i would be suprised if he started with these two as replacements. Im sure Westlake will start on the right as he did ok in midfield today
 
One of the lads at work said that on the BBC football programme they said that the second one, Flynn was attempting to "decapitate" the other player. The lad at work (unbiased) reckoned that both were deserved red cards.

Thats life I guess. Sometimes we have to bite our tongues, shrug our shoulders and get what we deserve.

Flynn, rarely tackles anyway so not surprised if it was a bit of a fine line
Doyle, he gets away with enough (he did against Bournemouth)

At times we start to seem like we are always the victims and the only luck we get is bad. We have to get on with it, decisions will go our way, decisions will go against us.

Lets just use the squad players that we have and play the 3 games out
 
I would imagine that the midfield against Bury would be: Loanee/Miller - McAllister - McDonald - Westlake with Chappell and Harriot on the bench.

Can't say I'm surprised about the verdicts but the Flynn decision was wrong.

"Attempting to decapitate"? I'm guessing that pearl of wisdom came from Steve Claridge. He's a full-weight fuckwit at the best of times - I very much doubt that Ryan Flynn's aim was to murder a Scunthorpe player.

Doyle, on the other hand, deserved his red. Doesn't matter that he didn't make contact - the red was for the attempt and to be honest, I'm glad it wasn't considered frivolous.
 
I didn't think either would get overturned.

I'd be tempted to let a couple of the kids have a go, Bury is a game we should be winning, so it might turn out to be the ideal chance to give a couple of the young lads a go, under less pressure.

No surprise. Doyle was stupid & Flynn was reckless - altho Scunny made the most of both challenges. Hopefully it will force DW's hand & he will bring a quality winger in on loan. Forget this "give the kids a chance". Yes, if they are good enough play them but if, as it seems, they aren't quite ready then lets bring in someone who is. A quality winger would make all the difference to our team.
 
Isn't Miller a striker?? A number 9?? Not a midfielder.FFS if that's the case then it's dire. Is it the same as Cressy apparently being able to play left wing??

The league aren't taking any action against dw for slagging ref though. Must know he was Shit

I reckon it will either be

McAllister KMac Harriot Williams

or

Westlake or Chappell McAllister KMac Williams

McFadzean is not fully fit from what I have been told and Tonne is not good enough,

I think he will also start with Cresswell instead of Cofe

DW prefers 4-4-2 which is why I cant see him switching to 4-3-3 although the players we have left would suggest this may be an option( McAllister,KMac,Williams in Midfield)
 
So if he played two kids, played well but lost two, won 1... How would people react?

Good win. But there's a big leap from u21 to the 1st team. Philliskirk - for example - has a great record for the u21s but has looked well below what's required on his (albeit few) appearances for the 1st team.

I'm always gonna be pissed off in defeat, but, as with saturday, a draw away at Scunny looked shite on paper but under the circumstances we saw a side to our Blades we've not seen for yonks!!
We could try youngsters, play absolutely great and lose one game to a 90th min o.g. and lose next match to 90th min pen!!
That could happen with senior lads in so for me, get em in!!!

Correct decisions at the time, correct decision now. You can't tackle someone at neck height and expect to get away with it. Let's see how Wilson copes, will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

No surprise there. Most of their players were outside the station waiting for a number 83 weren't they?

As for the red cards, lucky to get away without a "frivolous" addition to the suspensions. Presuming the panel only saw what was available through the BBC footage they were never going to be overturned.
 



It was a pointless appeal (as most are) because the FA will hardly ever overturn the decision. There are too many ways for the officials to justify those sorts of decisions. Wreckless or dangerous play being the easiest route and in all fairness I cant argue with Flynn's sending off. There was no intent to cause injury because he's not that sort of player, it was just a wreckless challenge and at the end of the day its the refs duty to protect the players.

I didn't see any real intent in Doyle's challenge either and for it to be described as a stamp makes it sound deliberate and it didn't look deliberate to me. His foot did come down on the player but it looked to me like Doyle was just trying to plant a standing foot after the challenge. Just looked awkward and a bit clumsy at worst.
