The worst thing you can do in a, so called 'transitional period', is to implement a manager with completely opposing views to what we're trying to achieve. Lets stick to the plan, and hopefully get someone who has similar football ideologies, but a little more experience and know-how in getting results with it.

I don't want to go back to hoof, we need to stay on track.

Oi!!! Pinchy decides what "hoof" is, and nobody else. Pinchy has declared that Stoke do not play "hoof". Pinchy alone can determine what "hoof" is.

Altogether now - "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.";)

I wouldnt really like Pulis, but if thats what it takes to get us out of this god forsaken league then go for it.

I think he'd be a good appointment personally.

Someone said Alan Curbishley to me.....would be good also.

Not sure if we're aiming that high though

Now that Weir has gone then the quote 'anyone but weir' is out of the window.

Someone needs to come in and take on what weir was trying to achieve

I can think of several currently out of work managers that I'd tear your right arm off for Pulis ahead of. Roy Keane, Appleton... there's more I'm sure - that tosser that was at Preston last year whse kids called him their medal winner.

I hate people that use +1, but if ever there was a thread to use it in, this is it

What plan? What ideologies? All I saw was shite, losing football

speak for yourself

I want promotion with excitement can lay on the settee or go to bed to sleep

I've got the wall and a brush. Who'll supply the paint?

UTB

What Weir was aiming to achieve and what he served up were worlds apart.

If we set out a strategy of being a passing football club from the ground up, it'd be madness to appoint Pulis. Weir's failure isn't the failure of the strategy but the failure of his ability to implement it.

Tony Pulis looking to work in the championship.

Hear hear to the OP. Stick to the change in philosophy, just get someone experienced enough to do it properly. We shouldn't be switching to an opposite philosophy again, we've been doing that for years and look where it's taken us.

The logical next choice would be Clough or Parkinson. Parkinson's team especially setup like what Weir was trying to do.

People are rumoured as saying we have targeted one man only and they say that is Clough. Considering they originally wanted Parkinson before Weir, makes you wonder why we are waiting till after the weekend. Why couldn't it be Parkinson who we are going for?

My crap theories that it could be Parkinson aside and reading about him from derby fans, Clough could be a very good choice.

Curbishley should have been approached instead of Robson. He has been out of it for too long now which suggests he isn't bothered about returning to manager ship when he must gave had plenty of offers. He also gets nosebleeds and crushing migraines if he goes outside of the M25.

If Pulis , or anyone of his ilk can take us up and then on towards the prem we can play like dirty Leeds for all I care , so long as we score some goals and get the odd bit of excitement , once we are an estabalished prem club we can moan like stoke fans and demand pretty football

Anyone but Pulis? Di Canio then? Personally I don't want that nasty little twat anywhere near us.

Really anyone????
Megson ? Di Canio? Jewell ? Ron Atkinson ? Brian Robson ?

I can think of many pro's and con's for Pulis, but anyone ?

The only players we have to play the Pulis way would be Harry and Collins. In the last 10 months we have picked up Murphy, Cuvellier, Brandy and Baxter who we should be building our team around this year. Pulis would be pure madness imo.

Dean Smith is an interesting shout as he got the best out of both Brandy and Cuvellier

The style discussion is increasingly tedious. If there was one style that worked then everyone would be playing it.

Pragmatism says that the style you play is the one that gets you success with the players available.

If you want to change the style then do it gradually by changing the squad gradually ( Stoke for example)?

By all means try to make it attractive to watch- and the most attractive football I have seen is winning football

And at this stage, when you're up to your arse in alligators, and clearing the swamp is the objective then do you really care if it's done neatly, or quickly?

We are in the 3rd division and Weir wanted us to play like Barcelona- pathetic and naive- you cut your cloth accordingly- welcome Mr Pulis
