Anybody remember Ian Rush playing for us?

Off top of my head, Agana Sept 94, 3 1 to County, dreadful match. Deane played for Leeds in 93 94 at Lane, possibly for the same team later that season, he also played for West Sham and Leicester against us.
I remember going to nots county away and I think we lost 2-1, they brought Agana on late in the game to hold it in the corner and he took the piss, no-one could get it off him, he was nowhere near the player we had and had suffered a lot of jiggly injuries but in a way it was nice to see he still had something about him. Deane and Agana were my first real heroes. Keith Edwards was the first but I probably only actually saw him a handful of times. The third division promotion season was the first when I could go on my own and ought of choice rather than anything, did so.

Steve Thompson has to be the slowest defender I've ever seen in our colours. He'd have made Chris Porter look like Usain Bolt.

Cowans, McGrath, McCall were all class acts. I liked McNaught, too. Withe and Phil Thompson were both ok for a spell. Rush was useless as was Jinky. Dean Saunders did well for us although he could be very frustrating.

One name I've not seen mentioned is that of Michel Vonk who I think was signed by Kendall. He succumbed to injury but I thought he was pretty effective as a central defender.

Bruce Rioch was a big disappointment, too, for a "top player."

I remember an away game at Blackburn in 1979 when we were fighting relegation. He stood wide out on the right wing throughout and looked like he couldn't care less

Paul McGrath, for me, stands out as the best ex-best big time player (if that makes any sense?) to play for us.
The way he could read the game and defend was fantastic and considering his training routine consisted on being in the Pub and bookies every day......
agreed.. one of the best players i've ever seen in the shirt. he was awesome. he looked like he was playing with a bunch of kids. he used to make me laugh

It really was crackers how he took the piss out of the attacker rushing towards him,he just sent him for a biscuit:p

He didnt so much play for us.more ran out and modelled his brand of boot.to aid sales he made sure they were as clean when he left the field as when he toddled on it

Anybody remember Barry Robson's debut as a substitute in the 1-2 defeat to Coventry a couple of seasons ago?

He was technically impeccable and looked head and shoulders above every other player on the pitch, he provided an assist for Kitson with his first ever touch of the ball in a Blades shirt. I thought we'd pulled off a masterstroke of a signing.

Unfortunately his performances got progressively worse from that match onwards. He did bag a couple of goals though.
