Yes they would, but he's not. So it's hard to see your point? Ofcourse we would see his performance differently if he was 18.

Interesting. I presume that you also think that Wilder is an idiot, because it was him who signed him and he says that he wasn't pressured into it? For the record, I don't think Ched is playing well at the moment but it's too early to say that he will never be good enough. The guy hasn't scored a goal and is never going to be a starter in the championship. Yes, there extenuating circumstances, but that isn't Sheffield United's problem. We need players that are good enough for this division, and he isn't. Nor will he ever be.

To go back to your point about taking a wage etc, frankly I believe that's a bollocks point. Sorry for the language but I think some things go beyond a wage. Delaying surgery because we have several players injured and sacrificing himself is, to me, much more about the character of the person and player than about a wageThat's why we debate
If he's scored 8 or more goals come May I'll eat humble pie, if even say if he's managed 7 goals I'd be impressed.

There are certain characters in football that will sit out games with a niggle, Ched, isn't one of those.
So whilst his performances may not be up to scratch at the moment, he is putting himself on the line instead of taking the op now
He's not playing for free is he?? He's getting paid a decent wage, so he's hardly putting himself on the line. He's doing the job he's getting paid for. The article in the program is just to take some pressure off of him.
He isn't anywhere good enough for a top 6 team in the championship. He is finished at this level. He wasn't good enough in league 1 last season. I don't have anything against the effort he's putting in. He's just not good enough - just like Hussey, Bradford, Wallace, Long etc. all players we've offloaded.
We took a gamble on him but it's clearly not going to work.
We should get rid in January, get his wages off the books and use them for a better player. Nothing personal, just good business and squad reshaping to make us a better team.
while you have your crystal ball out, can you get me the lottery numbers for next week?Ni one is blaming him for the defeat, but fans are willing to point out that his lack of ability made a difference to the result.
His fanboys will make excuse after excuse for him. At the moment it's the op. Then when he's back they say 'he's still finding fitness'. Then when he isn't good after that, they'll say 'he needs a pre-season' and the cycle will continue for three years.
We took a gamble, it's not going o work. Stop making excuses on his behalf. No other player is afforded anything like the leeway that Evans gets and it's ridiculous.

No one is saying it's Evans' fault that we lost today, but to still believe he's going to become a regular goal scorer at this level is delusional and,on the evidence so far, is nonsensical.
We tried, it hasn't worked. stop making excuses for him and just accept it.
Memories are short aren't they?
I've been watching many years and Evans at his best was as good a striker as any. But he's not fit. Do you deny him the opportunity to get fit again and see what he can do? I don't. He may not make it but give the lad a break.
Should at least read this from today's program. I'm not saying everything will be fine after his op, but at least we know that he's doing it for the club right now and knows he's not 100%. For the record I though that he got better as the game wore on, pity he couldn't get on the end of his own crosses.

Some fans need to lay off ched!!. He's only 50% fit and played through the pain barrier!!. He like the rest of the team left it all out there at the end of the game today!!. That's all I ask for!!. I M H O. In wilder we trust. Utb

I agree the transfer was suspicious, mainly because of the reported 500K fee which was way higher than what he is worth and given the penny pinching on deadline day, just makes the fee even more puzzling. I don't however think he was bought without Wilder wanting him.Well that's another story. Again, there is nothing about evans that is a Wilder signing. Wilder says he made the signing but the truth is, I don't believe it. He doesn't fit our style, he is crocked and certainly not 'on the up' as all his others have been. Why would he make such an out of character signing m, that just so happens to be Ched Evans. Suspicious.
Do I think wilder is an idiot? No. Do I think he's made a mistake in signing.Evans? Absolutely I do. There is little/no evidence that he has been, or will be, a good signing.
We should have signed a player that was fit instead maybe?
Memory isn't short - I remember him way back in 2011-2012 before he went to prison for 2 years and didn't play any professional football. During that season he scored 30 goals on league 1. Since then he's been out of the game for 4 seasons, played a season last year in league 1 and scored less than 7 goals and got injured.
The season before 2011-2012 he failed to score double figures in the championship and got relegated.
The season before that (which is now 8 years ago) he failed to score double figures in the championship in a team that finished mid table.
That's just the facts.
I've watched him this season and he's been very poor. It's highly unlikely he will ever be good enough again to be a 10+ goals a season striker. Would I prefer us put those resources towards a better player with more long term potential - yes.
Good luck to him, I hope he gets fit and bangs in 8, 9, 10+ goals. I just can't see it happening.

Plenty of footballers play with pain and delay surgerys, they don't write about it in the program.
The more I read your posts the more I think you're not really a supporter but are here on the wind up. If that's true then fine, but just come out with it mate, no need to keep having a dig at the club for all kinds of reasons. If you are a supporter then God help us, and God help you, because you sound to me like you are permanently depressed and looking for negatives everywhere.
The reason why we signed Evans is pretty obvious isn't it? We know he has the potential to be a very good player, we've seen that before, but we also know that he's been out of the game for a long time and is carrying an injury. It's a gamble, everyone knows that. But we've taken a punt on him and if it comes off then great! and if it doesn't then, hey-ho! so what? Did you notice we've signed 9 other players as well btw? It's not like we signed Evans "instead" of someone else.![]()
I don't think he played badly today but I don't think at the moment he's up to the Championship. That said he was leading the line on his own today and that has never been his game. He put in some decent balls that a recognized striker might have got on the end of

So eather way we lose then, which just blows your argument out of the water. He should not have started then, would have been better playing Brooks and Samir up top as false number 9s a bit like the Wembley formation with Baxter and Scougall
