I apologise if there's a thread on this already, i couldn't see one so....

Do we think that any of the new recruits could feature tomorrow night?

Personally, for me I'd throw Leonard in, we've been after him for that long he must be good enough.

What about Wilson & Evans? I'd have them in the squad. I know it's a big game for new players to be featured in but I think our Chris would expect them to be able to step up otherwise he wouldn't have brought them in.

Any thoughts?

I would definitely play Ryan Leonard with Fleck and Duffy,Evans and Wilson on bench or possibly Clarke and Wilson up front?

Wilder has tended NOT to throw in new recruits immediately, he gives them time to settle in.
So I’m expecting them all to be on the subs bench.

The only player who might get a start is Ryan Leonard.
I think that’s because his addition instantly gives us more pace/ power/ athleticism.
He’s also very consistent, a no frills 100% effort type of player, so is lower risk than the others

But knowing Wilder he’ll have them all on the subs bench and they’ll need to battle for a starting place.

I've got a feeling Leonard might start which would be really harsh on Lundstram but I'd accept.
Wilson will 100% make the bench.
Donaldson will bully their defence but if you've seen Burton's goal last week the pigs back 4 are terrified of players running at them.

I don't think wilders going to kick lundstram out that quickly, maybe have leonard as a sub coming on to replace him as we're thrashing em 3 nil.

What's Lundstram done wrong?

To be fair, not a huge amount. For me personally, I'm not his biggest fan. Yes his performances have improved however, he could still pull out a poor game on Friday night. We've been after Leonard for ages, so Chris must feel that he's better than what we currently have or at least as good as. I agree with Brownie, I'd play Leonard, Fleck & Duffy. Fleck & Duffy ran the game at the Sty and with someone with pace & power alongside them, we could tear them apart - again.

Can't see any of the 3 starting purely because Wilder seems to want them to earn a place, and once you're in the team if you're performing you stay in. Suspect if the game is going to Wilders plan (whatever that may be) then Leonard will replace Duffy at the usual 70min mark.

If things go tits up then we may see more dynamic changes earlier.

Hopefully we'll be home and dry come 70 mins, but I'm not counting any chickens. My powder is staying dry....for as long as possible.

Leonard on the bench for me and when he is used there's only one position I can see that's been earmarked for him ...... Bashams role at RCB .

Lunny won't be dropped, Bolton apart he has been fantastic.

I've said it numerous times this week I would start Leonard, Lunny and Fleck in midfield and play Duffy in the 10 just behind Leon. That's how we set up at the Sty, (Coutts, Fleck & Duffy in midfield with Brooks in the 10) and we completely overran them in the middle of the park which ultimately won us the game.

Just think it would work better than two up front....

WE CANNOT RISK A NEW PLAYER IN THIS GAME - THEY NEED TO SEE IT FROM THE BENCH RATHER THAN BE CHUCKED IN AT THE DEEP END. BRING THEM ON IN NEEDS BE. THIS IS NOT THE GAME FOR OUR PLAYERS TO BE FAMILIARISING THEMSELVES WITH OTHERS - LOOK HOW LONG IT LOOK LUNDSTRAM TO SLOT IN ETC. sorry for the caps!

For those saying Lundstram should be dropped/can't pass like Coutts/etc (from 3rd Jan):

Leonard and Evans on the bench, doubt Wilson will feature until the next match.

Lenny in for Duffy with bash at back as right cb.

Will want to win the midfield battle first like first game and bring creativity on later.

Other new recruits on bench if fully fit instead of Lavery and Samir.

Might see someone on the bench but it's too early and they won't have settled in. We'll be too strong for them without the new signings though and to be honest, they;re no better than we already have

I would sit them all in the stand, and let them have the privilege of watching the mighty Blades dismantle and humiliate our hapless neighbours. This will demonstrate exactly what is required to get into this team.

What's Lundstram done wrong?

Nothing, Lundstram has been very good of late. However, I'd still play Leonard ahead of him on Friday, for one reason only: pace! Looking at the opposition they have very little pace. With the midfield pace of Leonard, Enda, Baldock, the energy of Fleck and the speed of thought of Duffy we can really cause some problems for them. That said I wouldn't complain at an unchanged side.

Wouldn't start any of them personally, but then I'm just a fan and Sir Wilder is a football management genius.

Can't agree with anyone calling for Duffy to make way for Leonard. If Coutts was our Rolls-Royce footballer, Duffy is our Bugatti Veyron. He has the skill and trickery to tie them in knots, and has the ability to make things happen. Leonard may have this, and may be a mid to long-term replacement, but for now Duffy wins hands down. That said, assuming Duffy runs himself into the ground as he normally does, Leonard looks like a better option to replace him after 70 or so mins than Carruthers, especially if he could chip in with a long-range thunderbolt like we know he is capable of.

Keep an unchanged team. They were just starting to get their mojo back v Derby away.

Bring Leonard on as a physical player later in the game when pigs are tiring. Also probably Wilson for Clayton around the 70 min mark if all going to plan.

What's Lundstram done wrong?
Sometimes a player might not have done anything wrong, it may just be a case of another player having more ability. With the length of time we've chased this fella, no disrespect to Lundstram but I would expect Leonard to be of a higher quality. A steel city derby probably isn't the best time to start playing Leonard though. Lundstram will have more understanding of the players around him, and for me it's this and sheer passion that take precedence in these games.
