Oreit muckers.
Anybody know of any good pubs opening before the Charlton game? Looking for somewhere selling decent real ale.
I'd normally be in the Rutland before the match, but that will not open til midday like most of Sheffield's best real ale establishments.
I think the Tap and Henry's both open at 11am on a Sundi, so that could be a potential option for the mandatory (minimum) 2 pints. However wondered if anybody had heard owt or knew of a decent real ale pub opening early for the occasion.
Ta.

Sheffield Tap won't allow football fans in. I'm hoping at least somewhere will be open!

There are often people in the Tap with footy shirts on. The doorman usually tells people to cover up colours when going in, but I can't see getting in being a problem .... the issue is that 11am is not early enough!?

It's bollocks innit?
2 hours travel to Sheff and finding a decent pub open before a bloody noon kickoff :(
Quite like the beer in the Cremorne
Enjoyed the Kelham Best in there for the Forest match.
Problem is though that the Cremorne is small and often understaffed.

Just can't get with this Real Ale stuff, it stinks, it tastes lousy, and it's expensive, off to the Penny Black for Bob.

Rodders is the man itk, but I'm fairly sure The Lord Nelson will be available for use at 10 am.

As above, the Lord Nelson will be open, its got a good selection of real ales and is only a minute or two
along the road from the Rutland. At the back of Decathlon.

Sheaf View may well open early next Sunday.

Is that a figure of speech or do you know for sure? I did think about the Sheaf View, as I know it's a Blades pub and close to ground. I've never been, but heard good things and it's in the Good Beer Guide.

Sam Smiths man mate, but when not in Holly Bush in Edenthorpe I drink John Smiths in Penny Black.

n tha dunt consider Sam Smiths' n John Smiths' t be ale?

the thread title said "decent boozers"

yep ...... the ale in the Cricketers is gash. Not only did I say decent pub, but I said serving well kept real ale.

I'm sure the lion will be open, what it lacks in real ale is made up for by the scintillating chat of Silverfox and Lee the landlord.

Sorry mate...sometimes go in Fridays but didn't this week (they usually put a notice up about opening hours if they change them). I have known them open early before crap time kick off games before. Will try to find out this week if they are (unless someone beats me to it in the meantime).

Olle, Sheaf View open at 10.30am on Sunday. Good real ale, down to earth friendly boozer!
