At the moment I fly back to The UK on 1st May, but sorely tempted to take in another couple of countries before I come back. Might think about Myanmar & Indonesia. May even pay a visit to the Philippines to see how much of a lightweight drinker moDtheGod has become.

Myanmar is a country undergoing massive change. Six years ago mobile phones were the preserve of the government, Internet almost non existent and outside the big cities cars were hardly seen. Now it is smartphones for everyone and new cars everywhere with Yangon gridlocked. Yangon is still a city of decaying colonial buildings but are slowly being transformed into hotels and apartments. The Shwedgaon Pagoda at sunset is something you'll remember forever. The Temples at Bagan are still unbelievabley beautiful even after last year's earthquake. You can get round most of Myanmars must see places in a couple of weeks.

Indonesia is huge. Bali is hectic but after a couple of weeks you'll be ready for a rest. I now tend to use Bali as a stop off and visit the islands just a hours flight away. Rote and Sumbawa are easy to get to. Find a surf resort for decent cheap accommodation, hire a scooter and within minutes you'll find miles of white sand beaches without a footprint on them. A couple of months is not enough though.

If time is short get off to Manila and hit the bars with moDtheGod and drink yourself silly with vodka and whisky at a little more than a pound a bottle. Once you get over armed guards in almost every shop and permanent gridlock, it's quiet fun.

If I did come it wouldn't be til may anyway.

Possibility that I'll have a new contract to return to in early may, so it might not happen at all. Want to get a week of diving in somewhere, so may go to the andamans, but the opportunity of a new country does sound good too. Will keep you posted.
