There's no point holding your breath on this one, it'll be what it'll be.

You can't blame a young 'un for being ambitious, but it's also easy to misinterpret other people's ideas or actions. If he chose to sign with the Blades he'd be in excellent hands. I would hope he'd understand the reasons that support having a squad, and that no one is guaranteed a first team position, unless of course their form is such, JOC being a good example, that they're a shoo-in. If the lad, for that is what he still is, shows consistently high standards on the pitch then his position is assured. But he needs to think about what happens if he's injured, what do we do then?

Re the interview, the interview may have took place last week but only released now or even earlier; we know Radio Sheffield do their half past the hour updates in the mid week that are from the after match interview from the Saturday match. Saying all that, maybe he just wants to look at all options and we may have agreed a fee but with the fee being so low maybe there's likely to be interest from several teams.

I still think we'll be a great option for him, and if he chooses to go elsewhere then we'll have another option also, just as we will with the Matty Cash situation.

With a 1.5 million relegation buy out clause this lads an absolute steal, minor heart defect or not. Exactly the kind of a player we should be moving in quick for to cover LWB, even if he spends the season on loan.

"minor heart defect or not"

I don't doubt for a minute the lad would like to play for us, and only a team finishing above us would sway him more, this sounds more like his agent wringing every last penny out of a deal, which is what they do.

The lad was on the verge of joining AC Milan, if i was him I would be hoping they came back in for me

That's where I think his head / heart is at - wanting AC Milan to come back in for him.

My guess is they were offering him much better terms than we have 6 months on & he wants to keep them warm, perhaps seeing us now as a step down from where he'd positioned himself mentally in January.

As said before, the statement seemed pretty dismissive of our approach and if I was Wilder I'd have been put off by his lack of interest in us / lack of appetite to come & compete for a spot.
Although I get people's alternate "he's just ambitious" interpretations.

That's whats worrying me, if they was prepared to pay £10 million for him £2 million is an absolute steel even with a heart defect.
I have a feeling that is what Robinson and his agent are hoping for.
I trust Wilder but I would say to Robinson we have agreed a fee with Wigan/administrator's we want you here this is what we will pay you we will give you 24 hours then move onto other targets.
Might seem harsh and maybe not the way to do things in football but you would at least find out if he genuinely wants to come here.
PS if Chris is reading this and is too busy to do the negotiations then having just been made redundant i am available. 😆

Thought I would add here rather than respond individually to the two above posts etc

reg Robinson also I wouldn’t blame him for wondering how much he will play for us, maybe he genuinely thinks he has a better chance of starting at Milan

The lads got a brain defect then as well if he thinks he walks into AC Milan from Wigan as an automatic first choice.

they actively tried to sign him last year, not just waited till Wigan were forced to sell before having a look

I have zero idea what has been said if indeed anything has been said between Chris and him but i wouldn’t blame the lad for believing they wanted him more

Theo hernandez was probably their best player lasts season, and he's only 22/23 no way Robinson plays in front of him.

I was going to say "AC Milan sounds better to his mates in America"

Then I just did a quick check and found out he's about as American as me.

When you look at where most of the rest of the PL do their shopping, were a fairly attractive proposition in a niche market right now.

When you consider what Wilder has done to level up the careers of lower league also-rans and transform them into solid PL footballers we must sell ourselves as THE destination of choice for any young player that isn't currently operating in a top division.

We know the championship, obviously. But also those in the second divisions of major european leagues (Spain, Germany, Italy) and the minor European leagues (Holland, Belgium, Turkey) Find the best in those divisions with aspirations of top flight football

Berge fit that bill. Robinson does too. And so do all the other names were having chucked at us. 🙂

We don't know when that interview was from exactly, but if it was after our approach then, as you say, I don't think Wilder will have been impressed with that either.

Got to be an issue with Robinson? It was agreed 2/3 days ago

He's made a public statement, since we had a bid accepted, to say he's still available to other clubs... in a nutshell he wants more offers before he decides.

This could be Maupay all over again, using us to drum up interest. Give him a couple of days to decide then fuck him off.
He needs a reality check if he thinks he will waltz in to any club at our level and be a guaranteed starter. There maybe a dozen players worldwide who could demand that and hes not one of them.

West Brom's seemingly most ITK journalist has said “Fingers crossed, who knows, maybe his move to Sheffield United will collapse, but it looks very, very likely at this moment in time that he’s chosen Sheffield United over Albion.”

If the kid wants a move to the prem then he must surely know no-one is going to guarantee him to start every week.

Nothing wrong with ambition and wanting to play but his comments do him no favours IMHO. Hopefully he portrays a different attitude privately.
