Are you coming at this with what you think Brooksy should be worth
when he eventually gets transferred?
If so then Martial had been at Lyon, then Monaco so was probably on a fair wage before going to Man U. Not sure what length of contract he had at Monaco either, but considering the amount of money they make on players, it must have been a decent one to command such a high transfer fee.
If United want to make lots on an eventual transfer, we need to put him on (and him to agree) to a 5 year contract at a decent wage too - otherwise him and his agent are just going to run down whatever contract he is on now.
Spurs paid £5m for Dele Ali - Everton paid £8m (plus extras)for Lookman (from Charlton). Since then the Prem have had a massive increase in revenue from TV, so what value is Brooks?
Are United brave enough to commit to a long contract + wages? or daft enough to just leave it?
If we have any ambition then he needs a contract that reflects his value to us NOW as a player and also the chance of a massive transfer fee WHEN the inevitable comes. We can speculate all we want as to what he is worth - no one really knows until we get to that place in time.
We could always get promotion this season which would put things off for a while
