Another incompetent ref

I mean, the ref let too much go but then the bookings were fair, weren't they?

Ndiaye doesn't move back 10 metres and just stands there
McAtee drags his man back after he'd gone past him
Baldock booked for a blatant professional pullback
The only one you can argue was McBurnie but he did rather encourage our fans to come on the pitch. Difficult as it's such a tight pitch but I wasn't surprised.
Baldock and mcburnie shouldn't have been yellow. Don't even think baldocks was a foul. The problem was the ref wasn't consistent, easily booked ours but not Luton.

That was my take from the match.
It was so physical, loads of pushes and 50/50 fouls totally ignored, just like watching a match from the 80's.

It's obviously the new rule where refs need to be more lenient, so maybe the ref wasn't poor, maybe he was just applying the new instruction.
Based on last night Luton will be a tough side to beat, so maybe a point is a great result.
You could argue that Berry and Cameron Morris should have been booked for them but in general he let most things go.

The new instruction has gone way too far, in my book. I'm all for letting a game flow but we've seen outright cheating ignored. Sander, for instance, got to third base during one of their corners. McBurnie was being fouled every time the ball went up to him so began fouling back but neither got punished. Players are leaving a boot in and getting away with it.

There needs to be a balance but a foul is a foul. It's turned into all out wrestling this season.

He booked a certain kind of foul. He judged Baldock's to be a professional one, and I think it probably was (he followed the shoulder with a pushing motion as well, which didn't help his cause), but either way it's the kind of foul which is getting a booking. McAtee was a professional foul. Ndiaye was petulance. McBurnie got booked for provoking the crowd, I think. Very harsh considering how close to the pitch the crowd is and the fact he'd not scored for so long, but not surprised he got booked for it.

He tended to let things go (like McAtee was lucky to stay on the pitch and their lad with the sliding tackle which caught Ndiaye) which were seen as 'competitive'. Seems to be the way the refereeing is going this season and we're picking up a fair few needless cards as well.

I was surprised he didn't book Berry for cheating though.

Exactly, Baldock was simply using his strength, I'm not sure how it was judged as a push let alone a booking.

Not long after that, McBurnie jumps for a header and is blatantly pushed about 3 yards while in the air and it wasn't even a foul!

You are indeed correct about Baldock. It was the shoulder with a shove behind it.
There’s no way Baldock used his shoulder to ‘shove’ him. He was simply stronger than the Luton player who then simply lifted his legs in the air and crashed to the floor. No stumble, he wanted the free kick. Considering the Luton antics of wrestling and deliberately leaving a foot in that was a real soft as shit booking.

Not an awful ref, but guilty of the most frustrating trait as far as fans are concerned - inconsistency.

Inconsistent when trying to ref to the new standards of not blowing up for every possible minor infringement (Can’t see how Arsenal and Paul Tierney are going to cope with that one, by the way).

Inconsistent with bookings, plenty of shirt pulls from them, not punished.

We have not helped ourselves this year by picking up some really stupid unnecessary bookings in matches, something we should work on.

Last night, Baldock and McBurnie not a booking, McAtee and Ndiaye, stupid bookings.

All in all, I think we did well to come away with a point, seeing as our defence decided it was National Free Headers in the Box Day.

Not even a foul? One too many Guinness perhaps?
Shiulder to shoulder, not excessive force. I thought I read on here one if the new directives fir referees was to not call fouls for these exact scenarios.

Clearly wasn't shoulder to shoulder, and is the standard cynical counter attack stopping foul you want your players to do if they can afford to take a yellow
Wasn't it? I thought it was when I watched it last night and alot of people have said the same thing.

I didn't have any problem with the penalties he awarded.

But like Billy I did think we were hard done by at the other end.

But to be honest, who cares, we didn't buckle and we get the reward of the game against Spurs.

He was a disgrace. They could do what they wanted, niggly fouls, shirt pulling, manhandling particularly of Ndiaye etc etc

Yet Mullin gets tugged outside the box, hurls himself forward like a long-jumper over the line, and the twat couldn't wait to give them a pen.

2nd pen was stonewall, fair enough.

The handball in the box was just ludicrous. A keeper would have been proud of a save like that.

Usually the underdogs in these games will do a lot of the niggly stuff as a leveller and of course that is fair enough but its done with the expectation that the ref will pull it up at some point.

As soon as they realised they could get away with anything they like the ref completely lost the game, or he just didnt give a toss and wanted Wrexham to win. If he was letting it go for both teams then fair enough but fuck me he couldn’t wait to get his whistle in his mouth when it was us.

Bloke was clearly there to get himself on telly.

Think the ref was saying to Sharp and McCall at FT that he didn't see the handball.
My lipreading ain't bad usually but could be wrong.
Why didn't he check with another official?
Cheating barsteward
