That's 1 win in 5 games. 5 points from a possible 15, 33% win rate from our last 5 games.

If that form continues over the season we'll get roughly 36 more points. Leaving a total of 53.

Crewe finished one place above the relegation zone with 52 points last season, Notts County got relegated on 50.

Obviously we're not going to get relegated but our current form would suggest a very near miss.

Improvements needed more than ever.

I'm getting an ever increasing sense we're heading down the familiar path Clough took us down of odd draws (good points away from home) here and there in between a few wins and a string of defeats.

Loanees urgently required.

What did we sound like on the radio?

Are you seriously suggesting we're on track to have a 'very near miss' from relegation? Seriously? Even an SWFC in disguise wouldn't push it that far! ;)

the whingers are really hitting the crystal meths tonight

so if we were in the prem and drawn 0-0 at man utd wed d be flirting with relegation
only we were playing our peers in league one
at a club , who some seem to think is still a conference side

what you have to learn is clubs status changes
burton are at our level, at this moment in time
admitted in 1972 if wed drawn at burton would have been poor

They're the games I'd draw if we had to.

Just need to sort our home form and win half of our away games.

Neither here nor their result, but far from a disaster at this point.

He's on the wind up, using the last 5 games for maximum effect. If you take 10 games, we'd end up with 78 and if you take just the last three games, that would give us 76.

Statistics eh?

Is that enough for automatic promotion?

Five points off the top spot...
UTB!

Not of which are enough points no mater how positive you try to be or how you wrap it up.

Clean sheet was welcome.

I understand your concerns regarding our form but tonight has been on the whole a good point against top of the league, it's the kind of results prior to the home game against Donny we have to sort out, we have to get our home form sorted out, hopefully the rest will take care of itself.

You didn't mention automatic, you were talking about just staying out of the bottom four, 76 or 78 should give us a bit of a cushion.
I mentioned the facts suggested a near miss from relegation from our last 5 games. Nothing I can do about that, it's a fact.

But ultimately isn't our goal automatic promotion? 78 points would not be enough.

I don't see the point your making, other than we're on track to miss out on promotion?

Haven't been tonight.

Mainly cos 1300 miles away on the Guiness :-)

So it's possible I may be getting this horribly wrong.

But.

From 1300 miles away that a brilliant fucking point tonight away at top of league.

See the bigger picture !

They have lost 6 league games in their last 42. They didn't sound like scoring on the radio (might have been different at the ground?) - happy with a point all day long especially given their start.

Burton might be top and it might be an OK point but above all else that was a missed opportunity tonight and two points dropped. Just a little bit of cutting edge would've seen us win that game. We did the basics well and were the better side but we have to be beating sides like that if we want automatic promotion. Burton are nothing special and their lack of quality was evident. Once we matched their work rate we should've really made our quality count.

Well, that's not for us to say, Sitwell. Who knows why plonkers start pointless threads? All we can do is to respond to other posters and pointedly not respond to said plonker. That's my take anyway.

I think the point by Barnyblade is that the league is so wide open , that any team at the top going on a run of draws and losses , can finish up plummeting down the league , and the next thing , you are looking over your shoulder all the time.

Last night to me was not 2 points lost , but a point gianed , away from home , against a very organised Burton side.

For a 0-0 it was a good game , but what we still lack is pace . If / when Hammond arrives , he may well steady the link between defence and midfield , but will not eradicate all the short comings of a lack of pace out of midfield . . The good thing is , and i agree with Adkins , we have some major players coming back from injury , and it was good to see Done back on the bench last night . My view Done was on the bench from a phycological point of view , and will no doubt get a run out against Rochdale in some shape or form.

We are on the right track , but still look lost in midfield IMO , but with the squad , i can only see us going from strength to strengh , whilst other teams tail off . I can see Adkins changing formation and personel , depending who we are playing , but always going for the win.

Rochdale and Barnsley will be the teams to watch , but there again , the only team that can beat the blades , is the blades . This requires resolving by Adkins and the players.

We are work in progress , but this has also to include promotion , at the same time.

UTB.
