Apparently he sells rather medium carpets and rather small carpets too. And rugs. Of all sizes.

I bought a couple of carpets from Pyramid a few years back, when I used to live in Broomhill. They fitted them for me too.

I was very pleased with the service they provided and the costs were reasonable.

I've no problem with the Chairman being a carpet salesman, In the past, football club chairman and directors were often drawn from successful tradespeople.

It's quite amazing the forthright opinions being posted concerning the Annual Report - as if anyone (other than an experienced accountant or auditor) is really qualified to know what the figures really mean. I certainly don't.
There's an old Yorkshire saying: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt".

[I recall at the AGM of a motor club that I belonged to many years ago, the hon. treasurer stood up and gave a wordy speech on the state of the club's finances, full of accountancy jargon. He was brought down to earth by an impatient member who stood up and said: "Mr.Chairman, can the treasurer just tell us if we're winning or losing".]

It's all well and good having an opinion on somebodys percieved failings, but there is also a fine line between a valid opinion and libel, something that I think people should bear in mind!

I wouldnt be amazed broomhill, its common place these days for people to think they're a fucking expert regarding everything. At the end of the day the report sighted negative results and positive actions to address the situation. We have been assured by the directors (the only peoples' advice we have to go on) that the football club will be debt free in less than three years and that all our current assets are debt free. Mistakes were made, yes we know! We're reminded by certain people on a daily basis but clocks do not go backwards, so in regard to LOOKING FORWARD, what more do people want?

No one on this forum (unless they run a professional football club) has the first idea about how things are done day to day and on a yearly basis. People speak with hindsight and as if its fucking easy. I give up trying to reason with irrational people but I will make my point to bring balance to this forum.

Indeed Foxy, something that cross my mind as I was reading through these boards yesterday. Another word is slander.

I meant to include that word :D

I'd also like to remind people considering any form of claim against a person, that as a site owner, I have certain responsibilities for your actions.... please don't give me any need for concern and the need to go through the forum with a fine toothed comb! :)

SteelCity Blade, the sad thing is that the muppets who run football clubs everywhere rely on exactly the attitude you express to get away with shocking mismanagement, self-interest, greed or worse.
I don't think we've had the worse here but we've certainly had massive mismanagement and a large dollop of self-interest.

Which perfectly relates to my comment on the other thread.....

Like I said len, I give up. If things are as bad as you constantly insist then ignorance is obviously bliss for me.....I shall therefore apply it to comments of the above nature on this forum :D

As Yossarian says len, it beggars belief that you bother at all.

I'm sure you are right Broomhill, but let's be honest, you removed alot of doubt the other day when you said Jack Walker will be nowt but a footnote in Blackburn's history.

Not seen any yet Raul but I couldn't believe this bit:

'The club was truly devastated that Raul and Tuns chose not to renew their season tickets. As such, we will let them in for £10 whenever they want, install heated seats wherever they choose to sit and provide free transport and refreshment, along with a bsoon fanfare when they enter the ground.'

And I repeat, if we can get through to the kids, perhaps we still have a chance.
Not everyone has to believe every bit of crap doled out by the club.
The same people who agreed with all the Gold Coast Mariners, Chengdu, Ferencvaros, Sao Paulo, Indian, Malaysian, Belgian and whoever else I've missed out crap will now be happily burbling along with the notion that we'll be debt-free in three years.
Their brains might hurt with having to think any further but the kids, maybe with the kids we've still got a chance.

You're such a philanthropist and wonderful tutor len. I wonder if there's a spare spot in Liz's New Year's Honours List for you.

How do we go about educating the older heads who all that time ago said we'd never be promoted under Warnock or that Wednesday would reach the Premier League before us? ;)

Or perhaps, we don't actually have to belittle or twist the opinion of others at all, right or wrong?

Directors remuneration £701k. Up from £416k.

Highest paid £251k. Well paid these insolvency experts. Looks like he's earned his money to be honest.

I'd imagine he'll be off in a short while. The £250K will stand out like a sore thumb (It even takes Ched 3 months to earn it) in a much slimmed down organisation.

Then there's the notion that football is a game, one that some people simply want to watch and enjoy with a smile. I reserve putting the world to rights for things that are important.....

Very true fella. But the way they succeed / fuck up off the pitch dictates what we get to see, surely?

Slander refers to the spoken word. One has to prove that actual harm has been caused to win damages for slander. Libel is the written word. You don't have to prove that harm has been caused since the written word is deemed to be permanent. (I believe something spoken on Radio or TV also counts as libel since its effects are far-reaching).

[I'm not a lawyer - maybe someone will correct me if I'm wrong.]

Sounds right to me. I was referring to the nature of the comments really but by definition I would imagine you're correct yes.

True alco, but as supporters who have no control over these matters its a case of "que se-ra se-ra"

I have to trust those running it to get on with it. The day I cant do that is the day I stop walking through the turnstile.

Nah, I like being the pretend chairman. You'd strip away a third of pub talk without it. We'd be stuck with women's breasts and farting then. Hmmmm............

Indeed I was tempted back to the Lane for the Palace match for a tenner. Really enjoyed it and got a bit of the buzz back and then I got my half ST flyer through the post.
I was a bit worried they may have caught me at a weak moment and the club might have come up with a tempting offer and leave me with a difficult decision to make.
But £215 for the kop! .
Like at least 5,000 ex ST holders I opted not to buy an ST for £299 (apologies if I've not remembered corrrectlky) for the whole season.
So a few months on and our chances of automatic promotion gone, an incredibly slim chance of the play offs, the chairman bailing out and comfirmation that we are screwed financially for the foreseeable - I now get the chance to see half the games for £84 less.
I doubt they'll cover the cost of the flyers with the take up on this one.
Who on earth is making these decisions? How has the club and some of its fans got so detached from reality and out of touch?
I don't expect a half ST to be given to me but why even bother marketing them at that price - a waste of time and indicative of the way the club is being run and how it will struggle to come up with the ideas to attract the support it needs in the long run to break even and avoid even bigger cuts to the wage bill.

A lot of these accounts are smoke and mirrors. What I will say is the Blades future looks a lot brighter as far as finances are concerned. When I first saw the headline I was concerned. From what people are saying we are now virtually debt free.
We done Macca. You have put your heart and soul into the blades. OK so it hasn't all worked, and much of that is down to the current economic climate. But you have put the club in a position that many clubs, including our neighbours can only dream of. :)

Will you feel the same if we're "externally" debt free, yet still owe McCabe £30M?

I know I wont.

Dont panic, we will be "Internally" debt free when we are paying rent to McCabe to play at Bramall Lane
