Whilst we were shocking in the first half, they had nothing to trouble us and, on the balance of play, we probably deserved to win. But when you score with about 25 to 30 mins left (didn't notice the exact time of our goal) then proceed to sit deep and invite pressure like we did then I'm afraid you deserve all the late goals you concede.

Case in point, we get a free kick right down in the corner and have McDonald on the edge and only Kitson in the box.

Push for a fucking second Blades. Where has the killer instinct of last season's top scorers in the country gone?

It isn't down to the loss of Ched, we weren't even going for another goal. The whole mindset seems to have changed and I for one don't like it one bit.

What makes me laugh is we score a goal and then try and defend a 1 goal lead when we can't defend properly.

Cannot agree we deserved to win although Flynn should have done it but agree otherwise - good stuff mate.

The rollercoaster continues. Just when you think everything is fitting into place, it all goes tits up. Playing away at home now. Could be on for 30 draws at this rate. buggerin wembley tickets on standby. kinell.

Good teams with good defenders and experienced goalkeepers can sit back, or not so much sit back as retain and control the ball. We don't have a solid defence, we have a rookie goalie who needs protection and we're pitiful at keeping possession of the ball when it matters. Not an overreaction just a fact, we've dropped way too many points because we don't/can't dominate games. The unbeaten run is great, be even better if we were good.

A draw was a fair result, but once we got ahead we should've pressed for a winner instead of pissing about and sitting deep.

Oh aye and I almost forgot while I'm on one, unbeaten in the league, pushing for promotion and switching to defensive mode at home versus Oldham.................fucking Oldham does not fill me with confidence that we'll have big enough bollocks when we need them.

Wilson never did have any bollocks, 2nd season syndrome kicking in ???

I dont think I have seen us play at home this season and not be under pressure in the closing stages. We seem incapable of seeing a home game out at minute, although Flynn should have put it to bed.

Truly awful 1st half. Apart from Hill, Mcdonald and possibly Blackman no one could find a man, Doyle guilty everytime he "passed", the keepers just booted the ball up the field to each other and I'll get slaughtered for this but Long wastes time with kicks, goal kicks and his distribution is wanting. His main tactic is just to boot the ball as far as possible and immediately hand possession back to the opposition. When it comes to goal kicks, he takes 15 seconds to place the ball, saunters back stops picks mud out of his boots and then kicks, 'kin 'ell. The ref today was piss poor .
Also can't agree that we deserved the win. That said the Oldham players were pretty thuggy, one of the backs tried to get Blackman booked for stamping when he clearly didn't and one squared up to the dawdling ballboy and was very confrontational. The fans in front of me were trying to attract the players/refs attention to the latter incident at the end of the game and the Oldham player tried to shake the lads hand but the ballboy refused and seemed quite animated. Incidentally the ball boy was a black lad so it does fuel the speculation that he may have been racially abused.

I spent £36 today on tickets for me and my grandson plus £9 for food and £3 for a programme. Add in transport (train) and its a fairly expensive way to spend on just 90 minutes football, the only decent period being the first 10 mins after halftime.
It's an experience I won't be repeating anytime soon. It'll be £18 on the kop and leave the grandson at home.

and that's what you get when you sit back eh?
yeah mate we f**king know ..we've done it ten times already

mother of god. that was the worst game i've been to in living memory.. cofie should be returned asap.. he neshed every challenge and is terrifed of being injured .. SAF wouldn't stand for that and neither should we.. macmahon is pants.. kmac kept looking for him but he was 20 yards 'behind' him.. but twat of the day award goes to Dave Kitson of all people .. who was so interested in time wasting he didn't realise he was through on goal
this has happened about ten times now.. we didn't fancy it. apart from Blackman and Kmac.. most of the team were terrified..
we've had some shit teams over the years but we have NEVER been lacking for bottle.. very worrying and the clock is counting down for DW because the fans will NOT stomach lack of commitment.. no matter if we are crap or not

Tough on Kitson he won everything in the air some nice touches and won our penalty. It would have been a different atmosphere on here if Flynn after a nice run ruined it with a schoolboy attempt of a finish.
Cofie and Cresswell are not wingers both were invisible,DW doesn't seem to want to use Miller.

the point i'm making is that even Kitson was at it.. thought he played well other than that.. with Blackman and KMac.. Long did ok.. all the rest can F**k right off.

That equaliser was coming for ten minutes.

I seem to be getting sick of saying that teams who draw too many games, and the teams who don't get promoted.

You can sod the unbeaten run, a couple of defeats, along with turning a couple of the draws in to wins, for me would have in a lot better position.

My thoughts exactly. Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea etc, I can fully understand it but Oldham...??? That free kick in the final third with 5 minutes to go when no one wanted to get in the Oldham penalty area was one of the most embarrassing moments watching the Blades that I can remember.

Who's to blame though? Is it Wilson and his tactics, or lack of tactics, or is it the players who are too frightened to push on and try to make the game safe? Whichever it is, it is just plain woeful and fucking annoying.

Mad with rage anyone... ? ;)

True, but unless Long's time wasting is the management's instruction, surely it should take about 20 seconds to get sorted?

jon is right.. that free kick was a disgrace..
and then.. their keeper was in our box and we didn't even have a player upfield

i was stood at the top at the end (having a fag.. i knew they'd score) and the fury of the fans coming out was noticeable

Well I mean I did fucking say, but I was shouted down for being a manic depressive.

No, you were shouted down for being a fat prick who never says anything of note. Pipe down fatty, you're boring.

Well I'm clearly going to be outclassed by your rapier wit and fascinating insight so I'll just stand aside and invite you to show us more of what you can do.

Yes thhat's the free kick I was referring to.

Last season was the first time in my Blades watching life that I can remember us NOT sitting back on a lead and that was great, so it can't just be DW. We've done it under all of his predecessors that I've seen and it really pisses me off.

Just go for the kill. It might back fire, but so might parking the team at the edge of the area, booting it up to nobody, as seen yesterday. Nobody will have a pop for trying to score a hat full. But people who pay money to be entertained will certainly not be happy to see their team trying to cling onto a one nil lead at home to Oldham for 25 minutes.

I wonder if it stems from a desire to protect an already fragile team from being pushed too hard. Another injury or two would really spell disaster.

That's all well and good, TD. But to seriously challenge for promotion, you've got to have a solid home record. Already this season we've seen the away side start a bit tentatively and then, after about 15 minutes, it's almost as if a light bulb comes on over their heads. 'Fuck me! We can win this!'

Away teams probably came to BDTBL thinking a point would be a good result. After yesterday's abject surrender and cowardice, they'll now come on the offensive.

This is what happens when players are playing out of position, ie Cofie. Feel sorry for the lad because he's never played right or left midfield in his life as you can tell when he sat on top of his own full back everytime they had a goal kick and didn't keep wide when we had it. If Danny feels that playing 19 year old Cofie in that position over anyone we have in the squad who has played left or right midfield through the academy then he isn't the manager to take us forward in my opinion. He needs to find his balls because we are better than this garbage we have been playing all season.

There may be some pressure on us to play him if we are going to keep him for the full season? There is potential in him, but he does not know how to make use of it yet, and playing him on the wing didn't really work.

In the debate of giving youngsters playing time, Cofie has been mentioned to show that we do play young players. But it's not about the players' age alone. You give young players match time in order for them to develop so we can benefit in the future by having a better player. While Cofie does decrease the average age of a line up, he is only here for this season. He may develop individually, but we will not benefit beyond this season more than we will by playing Cresswell.

Johann Cruyff said that the best way to defend a one goal lead is to make it a two goal lead. That seems to have passed Wilson by. Every team that's come to the Lane this season has made us look average. We should be destroying teams in this league, although of course there aren't 23 ropey teams plus us, there are 24 ropey teams including us.

Whichever way you look at it you'll probably come to the conclusion that this isn't going to be an easy season, and automatic promotion is a very fanciful notion.

That was rubbish, wasn't it. We're too negative for a home team. Even when their keepers in our box we don't have a go for goal. Doyle gave some honesty when he said the first half was dreadful, then Wilson countered by saying that he woudn't have said that if we'd held on. Wow.

Truly woeful Danny and you are allowed to say so from time to time.

I heard Danny say that when I drove home. Maybe the fact Danny doesn;t give the team a few home truths is half the problem and he should have backed his captain up, even though he was probably our worst player in the 1st half

Wilson is responsible for this IMO. This isnt the first time this season its happened, so its either hs tactics or his fault for not sorting it out.
