I went to the evening with Carl Bradshaw last night. I had the pleasure of meeting foxy and Linz and two new Blades. It was a very honest and revealing interview with Bradders and he never hid from a question. Topics from Jack Charlton cadging fags off supporters at the Wendy training ground, uninsured drivers, tunnel antics, Kung fu attacks on Alan Shearer and the wages he was on as a pro were all covered.

Some more are going to be announced with the possibility of Kozzy, Page and Woodhouse doing a similar evening.

I'd strongly recommend going to one if you can. It's really good that the club enable access like this and there are no politics involved just some good anecdotes. The pie was nice and there was plenty of Hendos but no real ale ;)

Big thanks to Foxy for opening the invitation up. Well done to John and everyone hosting the night which went really well on all levels.

Always good to put a face to a name and was good to meet you! Will send you the FA Cup photos later on :)

The other two you met were Ballinpigpubs13 and big_i (who mainly reads rather than posting).

As always, the invitation is extended to everyone, come and have a pint with us and all the better if it can be done while listening to an ex-blades player (and Blades fan) tell some tales whilst supporting the very worthy Legends of the Lane and the work that JG puts into it.

We need to have a larger forum presence at one of the next ones, like you say, it's always an enjoyable night!

i'd love to know some of the stories then chaps, what did he say about tunnell antics and the kungfu tackle on shearer?

The tunnel was basically the first battleground to psyche out the opposition. Particularly when Billy and Hartfield took it on themselves to offer out entire teams for a fight. Basically it was made as unfriendly as possible. The Shearer incident was when he got sent off for trying to cut Shearer in half with a waist high lunge. I didn't realise but he said it was our throw. Bradders took it and threw it at Shearer just so he could lunge at him. Corky was sent off in the same game I think against a centre half who every time he'd played for Bassett against that player he'd got sent off and the quiet word in his ear pre game had zero impact.

We played well in that game until Shearer's brutal finishing and our own suicidal indiscipline.

Not a day I remember fondly regardless of the stories it gave out.
