As much as it pains people to not go to BDTBL (and I'm not suggesting a boycott!) but if there are people out there looking for a footballing alternative to turn to, then they could do worse than taking up this trip.

They're local, doing well, need the support, nice ground and of course managed by our own David Holdsworth (with a smattering of former Blades youth players) :-

Blue Square Premier side Mansfield Town are offering fans the chance to pay whatever they want to see their home game against Gateshead on Saturday.

The club's owners thought up the scheme to boost the crowd and thank fans and the people of Mansfield for their support since the 2008 takeover.

"Let's pack the ground for this match and roar the team on to victory," said chairman Andrew Perry.

The scheme also applies to away fans at the 10,000-capacity Field Mill ground.

People will be able to turn up on the day and pay any amount to watch the game.

They will be able to sit where they want, except in the seats reserved for season-ticket holders.

The Stags are currently fourth in the table - 10 points behind leaders Stevenage - and their last home game drew an attendance of less than 3,000.

Thankfully I wont be able to use my season-ticket this week and will instead be watching Lazio on Sunday afternoon in Rome.

At the risk of opening a can of worms, would Mansfield not get the 'scabs' treatment that Forest get?

Either way, Ill be at Brimsdown this Saturday watching Enfield Town take on Great Wakering Rovers in the Ryman League One North.

Well, I'll be at the Lane by virtue of having a season ticket (lucky me!)

If anyone requires a group therapy session and a fair dose of medicinal alcohol before the game, you know where we are...

I'm reasonably sure its because several pits in North Notts although being in Nottinghamshire they were organisationally a constituency of the Yorkshire NUM hence their support of the National mandate that if any pits closures were announced IA would follow. Therefore as they did go on strike they could not be termed scabs.

ghandi is right afair at least 'some' of the north notts were 'in' the strike
