I think you’re being cynical to be honest….but who knowsWhen a player has been shite for ages then in the last two games all of a sudden he puts in brilliant performances by his previous standard am I being cynical or does the attachment have something to do with it?
I sincerely hope I’m wrong and hope I’m proved wrong if he remains and his performances are like they were on Satdy after 1st September I will be the first to hold my hands upI think you're being cynical if you don't mind me saying.
Mcburnie's performances for us have been impacted by more factors than just his ability. There are two long spells where you couldn't really blame him.
Firstly the prem season where we weren't giving him service and everyone was playing shit.
Then last season he was plagued by injury and long covid. He's not going to be able to perform with long covid.
Just to add I also think Billy Sharps form has prevented a few players getting a chance to string a few appearances together and get into their stride, McBurnie hasn't had as much playing time as he might have got, we just expect him to switch it on whenever he gets a 20min sub cameo.
I reckon there is still, and always has been a quality player in there and he just needs a run of playing time before it clicks.
Maybe I'm being the opposite of cynical! I stand by what I say though.

I also think if his price tag had been £2m (not his fault at all) he wouldn’t have took as much stick from the fans. I hope he pushes on and provides us with some much needed strike power up front.I think you're being cynical if you don't mind me saying.

Your assistance is noticedNot being cynical at all, just keeping the hourly McBurnie threads going. Outstanding effort, well done![]()
The attachment has sod all to do with it.When a player has been shite for ages then in the last two games all of a sudden he puts in brilliant performances by his previous standard am I being cynical or does the attachment have something to do with it?
Serve some of us right? If he went elsewhere and knocked in 20 goals it would serve some of you lot right. The treatment he has had from Sheffield United fans has been both shameful and embarrassing far worse than our other record signings (at the time) Brewster and Berge received.
Maybe he’s now fully fit and is capable of showing what he’s actually about. When a player has been shite for ages then in the last two games all of a sudden he puts in brilliant performances by his previous standard am I being cynical or does the attachment have something to do with it?
For me he still needs to show consistency and one sub appearance and however long he was on for Saturday isn't enough time to show that. Can't say I've ever been one of his fans. I won't say I'm his biggest critic either, if we get some cash for him then he can go for me.
That's not to take anything away from his last two appearances mind which have been positive and much better, I think I've just lost faith in him. Despite what we think here we are considered to be and should be one of the teams going for autos and at the very least we should expect playoffs again and I'm just not sure I like the idea of bringing McB on even for the last 20 minutes in a tight game if he's not in the mood to put in a good performance.
I'm 100% open and hoping to be wrong, I've no issues if he ends up coming good for us, he's obviously capable.
More than happy for it to happen, I don't think we've ever had a player that I can remember that I disliked for the sake of disliking and wanted them gone but I've said often he doesn't seem to fit. If he's turned that corner and now we have a striker on our hands hungry to bag goals then that's only a positive as far as I'm concerned and he gets his chance. For me he still needs to show consistency and one sub appearance and however long he was on for Saturday isn't enough time to show that.
If he plays well again Friday and even better if he finally takes one of the numerous chances we're now creating, then I think he may well have finally turned a corner!
