Alleged racism by a Sheffield United Ladies player

It's genuinely laughable that you're essentially criticising the potential victim for the damage their claim on social media is doing to your club. There are bigger, more important things going on here.

Yep. Things like innocent until proven guilty and a fair trial rather than mob justice via social media. There have been instances of people being accused of being paedos on social media and being murdered or having their house burned down, then it turning out to be mistaken identity. Careful what you wish for.

The inmates have taken over. 6 pages about a woman making a monkey noise. Anybody know how many kids are being abused right now? Any idea how many old folk are living in poverty? Any idea how many homeless people? Perspective!!

So we can’t discuss this because other things are worse? If you want to discuss the homeless or old people then you’re feee to do so in General Chat. But no doubt someone will point out that we don’t have the problems they have in Syria. Like it’s relevant.

Seems a very strange thing to do full stop.
I find it really hard to believe someone would actually do this and equally hard to believe someone would make it up and tweet about it. Basically, fuck knows.

I agree. If it was 1970, it would be more believable. Is this even something a modern day racist would do???

No idea, I try not to associate with racists. Maybe she’s seen it on the various programmes about how shit it was to be a black footballer in the 70s and thought it would be funny to do it? It just seems odd that she did it in front of twenty other people and no one said anything at the time. If it was a teammate of mine I’d tell them to STFU, if it was an opponent, I’d probably just clean them out. (Well, would have twenty years ago, can barely run for a bus these days).

The original post wasn't in general chat. Are you in the chat cop's? And Syria? No monkeys in Syria I don't think!

This may be a bit controversial, but is sacking really the correct response? As people have pointed out, the way football is structured, it may harm the club more than the player, which defeats the point.

I’m surprised site racist FinchleyBlade hasn’t had his say yet.

Seven pages of posts, ebbing and flowing. I am surprised that the second major crime in that report has so far not yet been flagged as far as I can see...

It's the frivolous use of the word United in an article about a match between Spurs and Sheffield United. Really blatant if (like me) you have no idea about the teams' respective positions in the table:

"The results, combined with Durham drawing at Charlton, helped Spurs leap back up to 2nd, just one point behind United."

Then take a look at the table....:mad:

So dodging the obvious discussion of racism, it is the article writer that deffo needs sacking, here. That one is beyond ifs and buts. :D;)

Any updates on this? Presume there's an ongoing investigation, taking its time mind

The carpet has to be lifted gently before you can even begin to select a brush for sweeping.

Today the CheatinAmmers have been fined £100k for pitch invasions against Burnley, a year ago.

The wheels of justice can turn very slowly when it suits the FA.

It’s been reported twice on the Talksport news this afternoon.

However what is very interesting is the newscaster said both times, ‘A Sheffield based woman’s footballer has been charged of racism by the FA for making monkey chants on the pitch towards an opposition player”.

Strange how it didn’t mention she plays for Sheffield United Women’s team.

Makes you wonder if the editor at the radio station has thought mentioning the team “Sheffield United” is damaging negative publicity, so the prevent possible legal action let’s play safe and just say “she’s Sheffield based”.

That's sooooooooo passé Bush. Did you now know it's trial by twitter these days and the allegation is proof of guilt?

That’s the issue, doubt there’s any proof of guilt or innocence
and it’s just one word against the other with various character references/ witnesses from colleagues.

If so, like it or not, she's not guilty. If she did it then it's unfortunate and an undesireable outcome, but not as unfortunate or undesireable as setting the precedent of guilt based on accusation alone.

Forgive my ignorance, but by being charged what does that mean? That someone reckons there's enough there that she has a case to answer?
