Alleged racism by a Sheffield United Ladies player

'Charged' being the key word that the OP hasn't quite grasped.

There was a bloke who just happened to be eating a banana at Spurs the other month when there was a big scuffle between playerson the touchline. Fans got irate and a couple of plastic bottles were thrown. In a rush of blood this bloke hurled his banana onto the pitch. Turns out one of the players involved in the melee was black. Result: a lifetime ban.

It’s just his opinion. He’s entitled to it.

See how it works?

Actually I think it’s that we may only think he’s got an elf costume. In reality, he’s probably dressed as a French maid or I a St Trinians outfit.

( Apologies to those sitting down to a late dinner)

Who amongst us hasn't accidentally thrown a banana skin towards a black player in a rush of blood.

Reminds me of that poor Palace fan who simply said “excuse me Mr Cantona, but I thought that was boorish and unsportsmanlike behaviour, if you don’t mind me saying. Good evening to you sir”.

She’s a Sheffield United Women’s player, good luck with any legal action based on that!

Yeh agree, fair point.....wonder why the radio station choose to call her a Sheffield based player and not a Sheffield United player.

The way news is reported (as you will know) can be powerful and have very different effects.
In the last few days all I’ve heard is “Liam Neesons friend was raped so he wandered the street looking for a black man to kill”.
In isolation that statement sounds disgusting and very racist.

Wonder why it was never reported as “Liam Neesons friend told him she was raped by a black man, so enraged and blinded with wanting revenge he wandered the street looking for a black man to kill”.
This statement is bad but isnt so shocking, it could at the time be racially motivated but not necessarily. Also the context of his statement was about how pointless and stupid wanting revenge can be. This was 20 years and Neeson admitted that it took a week to get over his anger which he feels ashamed of. Still not pleasant for black people to hear this as no doubt it’s happened in the past.

Not really much difference between the two statements.

Doesn’t seem like many media outlets reported what he actually said or many people bothered to actually find out.

I spoke to someone who was shocked that Neeson would want to gain revenge by killing any innocent black man. However his motivation wasn’t to kill a black man, it was to kill the rapist (who he’d been told was a black man ).

If the rapist had been a white man with pony tail then assume he’d have said he’d have driven round looking for a white guy with a pony tail. His point was when you’re angry wanting revenge then logic and reasoning goes out of the window because if he had met a white guy with a pony tail it doesn’t mean he had anything to do with the crime.

Some people look for the racism angle (as it sells more papers) when that’s an incidental, the main story should be about revenge.

As I hinted, you don’t seem to be aware of what he said. Neither does the person who you spoke to.

“I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some [uses air quotes with fingers] ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him.”

I listened to the actual interview when it was reported and played it to my partner (of Jamaican parentage).
She didn’t find it as shocking when she heard the context of his words, said she’s heard much worse and he did at the time 20 years feel shame regards the thoughts he was having.

The weird bit was his questions, do you know who it was? no. Was it a black man? Yes.
Now that is a strange thing to say and I can’t imagine what explanation he could have,
maybe he did have prejudice thoughts at the time.

You listened to the interview yet ignored the part where he said he was hoping someone black had a go at him so he could kill him, and replaced it with “looking for a black man to kill’ ?

Th
Sack her with immediate effect. No place for racism in todays society. Ffs even if people do harbour racist thoughts or opinions why do they open their mouths?

Really annoyed this idiot has tarnished the name of our club.
thanks for the kangaroo court judgement Mr Forest Fairy.

And that your Honour, is the concluding piece of evidence .

It is a well known fact that Porktalk doesn't like naughty words but any Blade on here knows that 'twat' is fair game, thanks to His Worshipful Foxter and Lady Linz.
Whilst not wishing to tread on your Honour's toes, I feel the black cap may be in order here.

There’s a significant difference though, he went looking for someone that fit the discription of the perpetrator.
His agenda wasn’t to kill a black man, his agenda was revenge to kill the rapist.
Anyway he was talking about thoughts that he had 20 years ago and he realised at the time his thoughts were stupid and shameful.

Wasn’t his exact quote about looking for any black man* to have a pop at him so he could kill them?
[The word he actually used there didn’t do him many favours either]
For me,it shows he is a dangerous guy who related the perpetrator to a whole race of people. So venting his anger on anyone of that race would have been acceptable. Isn't this how the seeds of racism or hatred in general is sown and grown?

It’s like if someone broke into my car tonight, then my immediate thought was to go down Pitsmoor and look for a Somali, that would be obviously racist. When a crime has been committed what normal person would think, it must be a Somsali or whatever.

But if I personally witnessed a Somali person breaking into my car and I turn drove around Pitsmoor or London Road looking for a random Somali, then it’s irrational and stupid but not nessarily racist. See the difference?

He said he wanted a black person to start on him so he could kill them to avenge his friend. You keep misquoting him in every post.

I’l leave It with you because you keep making different claims each time you post. As in your reply to Danny04. You’re the only one talking about someone “random” walking down the street after he clearly said hoping someone would start on him. Just read what Neeson was reported as saying.
