Last time, for those seriously posting about other roles, he can’t. You can’t give him the title DoF and then have him coach the first team.
Follow the process....
For those searching & asking questions along the lines of - can't we just call him something other than manager & get away with it.

Take a task that we'll want Alexander to do. Like picking the team. We'll want him to do that, right. Team selection is listed in the Governing Body Endorsement criteria. If you're picking the team, you have to have Governing Body Endorsement as a Manager. It's listed there in the regulations. It doesn't matter what job title it says on your office door. If you're picking the team, you have to meet the GBE criteria as a Manager, you have to have 2 years as a manager somewhere else, (or remember you'll have to go to the Exceptions Panel).

And, a point that hasn't been made. The rules for Governing Body Endorsement are not run by the Government, by the Home Office, by those wanting his Tax. They're run by the FA. They're FA rules. And if you try to cheat the FA rules, and get found out, maybe because some rival club in your league grass you up, then it'll be the FA who punish you. You know, with points deductions and shit.

(The Exceptions Panel is an FA Panel)

We want to appoint him as the bloke who picks the team. He'll have to have a bloke who picks the team sticker. Or else.....

Sounds bollocksed before it’s started

Going to look great if we can't appoint our 1st choice because we don't know the rules

It's really quite simple. If we want him, we go to the special dispensation panel or whatever they're calling themselves, make our request and they will say either yay or nay.

If the board are unanimous that this bloke is their guy then im sure we will eventually get him. Even with the regs.

If he really is their man for the job then they will need to go through all the regulatory hoops & panels required. We play by "Da Roolz" because we are not "The Grubbies" remember!?!

All depends on how determined the board is to get him.

I’m more concerned we appoint a guy but have difficulties bringing his team over. He may have limited connections over here to build a new team with only 10 months experience in the hot seat.

Yep that could be a disaster

Not when I think they're making a stupid decision

I don’t think it’s a stupid decision, but there’s clearly some difficulties to overcome. I imagine SUFC are all over this or we wouldn’t have been linked so heavily.

Still feels to me like Jokanovic is the simpler and cleaner option with greater continuity for the first tilt at a return. But I understand he may be too expensive and will likely end up at another Championship club with more resource.

You'd really hope so. I'd feel a lot better if we went for Jokanovic.
You wouldn't be concerned around throwing a lot of money at a manager who's likely to be short term and is currently not exactly in demand given he's assumed to be a promotion sure thing?

I'd be concerned if we threw loads of money at him if we couldn't afford to but out of this guy and Jokanovic I'd pick Jokanovic every time

The only thing he has said, or his people have said, is that he's interested and we'd be the highest paid manager in the league at around £2M/season.
If'we're appointing him, he is going to be expensive for a Championship coach and want a lot more backing in the transfer market.
His MO is short term but quality football with quality players.

I don't think we'll get him no but if he agreed to come with whatever our budget is he'd make me think we could have a decent season with pretty much the squad we have

If he can make the current midfield work as a promotion winning unit then he's worth everything he's been paid.

Need to bring a few in obviously but doesn't mean a crazy budget especially if we manage to sell Berge for around what we paid for him. But you're probably right he might be out of our range financially

I doubt he's out of range, we can afford his wages but they're substantial. I just question the value for money, how good he is given our resources for recruitment and I'd like someone who is building something longer term so also looking to the kids within a few years.

I'm more concerned about throwing a lot of money at a manager who has only overseen 34 professional games, none of which were in this country.

And Wilder is the exception, not the rule. This guy will be short term too. He will be gone in 2 years tops, and probably sooner than that.

Oh if it's governed by the fa a quick stuffed brown envelope should suffice 👍😂

Follow the principals employed by our neighbours up the road and appoint him and then submit the paperwork later. By the time the authorities will get round to looking at it the guy with have fulfilled the criteria to work here or have been replaced

We probably should and most other clubs would get away with it but not us.

Sheffield United are just not allowed to, soon as we step a toe out of line they'd come down on us like a ton of bricks pricks!
