To the tune he's one of our own.

There's only one Knill, there's only 1 Knill. We're Sheff United, there's only one Knill"

I'm an oldish bloke who doesn't get emotional, it's not a macho thing, it's just me. But in Fulwood Blade's chant videos there is one for AK. I have to say, I misted up, in fact, got quite emotional at it. I think it's because he seems like a really nice, shy bloke. As I have posted many times, IMO he is so so important to our current success. I'm glad he is getting the recognition. No need for a new chant, that one will do, very apt.

It was great yesterday, after the chants towards Knill to see CW push (a very reluctant understudy) Knill onto the sidelines and take a bow, followed by laughs and hugs all round, great images that will last a long time. Just a fantastic day basically.

He's a proper football man and a thoroughly decent fella. We have some friends who know him and his wife well.

Looking from afar he's always struck me as a bit of a Glenn Roeder type. Proper clued up football person but maybe not comfortable being the main man.

Great to see the acknowledgement of him yesterday.

Apologies if posted/discussed elsewhere. Thought it was fantastic to hear Knill's name ringing out of that away end on Saturday. Seems the type who prefers to remain in the background but as others have said in here, he's done a very good job with us so far alongside Chris.

they are a great double act that as found the balance perfectly, Wilder knows how much he needs Knilly and vice versa, they complement each other perfectly, I for one doff my cap to both and thank them for the football we are now playing and taking away all the years of hurt and darkness.

I'd get rid of him as he is a lower league know-nowt.

What's that nice Brian Kidd doing these days as I'm sure NW said he was his 'best ever signing'?

I remember early during last season.

The Radio Sheffield presenter was talking about our switch from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 and how our results improved after the switch.

Wilder said many people read too much into tactics this and tactics that.
He said Knillly 'loves his tactics", thinks about them 24/7.

Wilder said he thinks football should be simple and his focus is more about players be motivated and giving everything for the club EVERY single game. He often uses the saying "leaving it out on the pitch" is his minimum requirement.

It's seems a perfect combination.
Knilly is the tactical brains (good cop) with Wilder the front man, decision maker and motivator (bad cop).

Exactly my thoughts mate.

You often find that the people that are really knowledgeable football tacticians or top players that have achieved loads in the game try to become managers and fail.

You don't necessarily need to know loads about football to be a great manager.
If you have charisma, motivational powers and know how players tick then you'll go. Of course you'd then need the best backroom staff and an assistant that does know about tactics.

My sources tell me that

Warnock wasn't a great tactician either but was brilliant at motivating players, hence he's the manager. Where as Blackwell was knowledgable and knew his stuff but he didn't have charisma and ability to motivate. Hence Blackwell is better suited as a coach and not a manager. Knill has tried to be manager a few times in the past and decided it's not his cup of tea, so now he prefers to stay in the background focussing on tactics and coaching.
