Advice on getting to M1

Do you know anybody on here who could give advice on alternative routes to a football ground?

Because of the road works as you reach the section between Catcliffe and the M1. It bottlenecks even more now.

Go up it most days including after matches. After a match on Saturday takes about 2/3 minutes more than usual tops

If heading out that way, better turning right at Wickes, up Rutland road, to burngreave road, down past northern general, to ecclesfield and get on J35.

To be fair when you get to the bottom of Rutland road the traffic along the A61 has virtually disappeared by then so I doubt there’s much in it…. Does avoid the embarrassment of possibly being spotted near the rust bucket though

Word of warning if your taking the A61 past the sty. The traffic is always quite heavy for a fair way from the Lane so will take you probably 45-50 mins plus to join the M1 but at least your 4 junctions further up

One person going along the parkway.
One darn Prince & Shepcote Lane.
One through Ecclesfield and up to J35.
One past the sty.
One catching a train.
One getting on tram.

Whoever gets to birdwell or wherever first wins a greasy chip butty!

We’ve tried going through Broomhill, Ranmoor, Crosspool down to Hillsborough a couple of times this season…. and it ended up taking longer!

Bloody hell Nyb, I live at Oughtibridge, and by the time I've got back to the car after the match, and drove home, it's around 5.30ish.
For you to get to Harrogate for 6.20ish, wot the hell ate you driving or even flying....

It’s a maverick route, granted - but sometimes the feeling of moving is less stressful than crawling all the way up and over Hanover Way / Shalesmoor if getting out to J36

I generally make sure I dont have to be back for owt, that way I can always sneak another one in, in the sheaf, before jumping in a taxi just after the lunacy straight after the game.

Its all very well saying that, but until you try out a route you dont know how easy/quick it is, especially immediately after a game when traffic is heavy. So I did the easiest thing, asked people who know. No need to be a dick about it.

I were joking pal. Go up a61 to 36. Past the rathole easiest way.

Just thought you would know all ways in and out.
