road maps are dead now. as its Google or sat nav

Road cars will be dead too now the AirCar has got flight approval. Wont be long before you are getting cut up in the air by another AirCar or AirCyclists complain about AirCars getting too near and nearly knocking them out of the air. 🤣

Shepcote lane is shut atm isn’t it? Water pipe burst or something.

Personally I’d follow the A61 up past the sty, pass tankersley manor before picking up the m1 at j36.
That's what I'd do, Once he's past swillsborough it's a clear run to Tankersley traffic wise, and going in the right direction, tbh I travel back to s36 through hills, after infirmary Road it's a clear run..

Oh, Roadworks at tankersly Manor close that road at 8pm, so don't do it on night games..

Solution to that is to turn right at tankersley roundabout, follow the road to the next roundabout and take 2nd exit (down towards Chapeltown)… pass the ronseal factory and under the railway bridge. Turn left at the end of the road and it’s uphill… follow this over the m1 itself and it’ll eventually bring you to the opposite side of Junction 36. Probably adds about 5 mins journey going through Hoyland common.

Avoiding the Parkway after the games. Need to get to M1 North. Is there any other way then going on the Parkway. Looks like there's going to be delays for a few months
What makes you say there’s going to be delays on the parkway?
And straight down netherthorpe road, through Hillsboro up to tankersley is your best bet

Because of the road works as you reach the section between Catcliffe and the M1. It bottlenecks even more now.

Yep I had to do that last Thursday night on way to work, if you're naughty, you can go the wrong way down that one way street at the top of the hill and cut the speed bumps out.. Just saying.. 😉

Edit : put 12 minutes on, there's filter lights on at the top near the crossroads / garage, new builds..

Could anyone give me some money to go on holiday please

This.
Also could park at meadowhall for free, and get the tram or train from there to sheff. Save parking hassle in town.
Meadowhall is my preferred option too. Free parking. Trains very frequent (every 5-10 mins). Train costs a couple of quid (or free if you wait to buy a ticket from the guard like many do - usually rammed so they don’t get around). 10 mins walk from station to ground with a few ‘rest’ stop options on the way. Can get a train as late as 2.30pm and comfortably make kick off. We’re usually back in the car before 5.30pm on a Saturday.

That's what I always do too, it's a price worth paying to avoid the hassle of trying to find somewhere to park that's safe and unrestricted and getting stuck in traffic. I'm straight on the M1 and back home by 6

Past Goals, onto City Road, down Bernard Street, onto Savile Street, past Meadowhall:

Parkway looks worse than it is ,cost you an extra 5/10 mins at worst.
When are they ever not going to be improving that road btw ,play the spot someone working game ,Ive seen 2 in the last 3 months and I go on it every day.

Actually, sod's law, going home Saturday we used the Parkway and sailed through. I do use the term 'sailed through' very loosely. I do appreciate all the alternatives I've been offered though.

You're "supposed" to buy a ticket beforehand now. We get the train most match days from Meadowhall and just jump on, never get asked, but they sometimes have people at the top near the ticket machines checking if you've got one 😁

Can also get them refunded if they dont get scanned as well I believe.

Didn't know that, but my partner's just started at First call centre and she'll be doing various train company calls so she'll be learning all this now.

And we get dirt-cheap travel if she sticks it long enough 😁

You “can” but Greater Anglia and Northern have been trawling their refund and delay repay data in lockdown and have been sending letters threatening prosecution to those they perceive to have transgressed.

Ahhhh be reyt. I’ll just make something up if I get thrown in the slammer. Cant imagine theres much street cred in defrauding northern rail of a 4 quid open return.

Admittedly Ive never checked the t’s&c’s on the refunds but I wonder if it could be argued that tickets that arent scanned fall under the same umbrella as tickets that havent been used as thats where the loophole in the system appears to be.

Word of warning if your taking the A61 past the sty. The traffic is always quite heavy for a fair way from the Lane so will take you probably 45-50 mins plus to join the M1 but at least your 4 junctions further up 👍

Not sure that would work then. We're usually back in Harrogate by 6.20

We live minutes away from the sty ( we’ve become immune to the stench over the years) and aren’t usually home until 5.35-5.40 on a match day 🙄

If heading out that way, better turning right at Wickes, up Rutland road, to burngreave road, down past northern general, to ecclesfield and get on J35.

Maybe we should organise a race.

One person going along the parkway.
One darn Prince & Shepcote Lane.
One through Ecclesfield and up to J35.
One past the sty.
One catching a train.
One getting on tram.

Whoever gets to birdwell or wherever first wins a greasy chip butty!
