Avoiding the Parkway after the games. Need to get to M1 North. Is there any other way then going on the Parkway. Looks like there's going to be delays for a few months

Take the A61 North (1st left on the Parkway - about 200 yds from Sheaf Square roundabout) & follow A61 (N). I has M1 signed all the way to Barnsley South junction to the M1. Junction 35 or 36?

If you walk, you avoid the traffic .

No need to thank me.

Just go come back Meadowhall Road or Attercliffe Common

Came down Parkway myself no problem just now though on way home

I have a stnavJust thought someone who knows the area would be my first port of call. I will know look at google maps. Thanks for the sensible replies.
Social media has a lot to answer for. I have a satnav but If I'm going on an unfamiliar route I usually look at a map before setting off so that I have a general idea of where I'm going. I've been a motorist since 1956. Somehow we managed to cope pretty well in the old days without satfnavs and mobile phones.

All depends where you park mate?

I head North so can happily suggest a route but it does vary dependant on your starting position near The Lane.

When driving I always have gone for junction 36 and either parked at Chapeltown and got the train in or driven in past the dog track and into town.

Used to park on the City Road side of ground, drove up the road with the tramlines behind the Casino and then joined up with City Road. Turned left at Manor Top and down Prince of Wales Road down through Darnall, shepcote lane and onto motorway.

I’ve not read the whole thread, so apologies if already mentioned. Come off parkway at bottom of Prince of Wales Rd and head towards Darnell, turn right onto Shepcote Lane and join M1 @ j34

Shepcote lane is shut atm isn’t it? Water pipe burst or something.

Personally I’d follow the A61 up past the sty, pass tankersley manor before picking up the m1 at j36.

Park at Farm Club

Couple of ways then.

Route 1:

Down to Park Square roundabout and onto the start of the parkway. Turn left at Capita onto the A61 (Derek Dooley Way) and then take almost a U-Turn onto Savile Street (A61090 and follow it all the way to Meadowhell and then jump on the M1 North at that point.

Route 2:

Down to Park Square roundabout an onto the start of the parkway. Turn left at Capita onto the A61 (Derek Dooley Way) and the follow the road through Shalesmoor and onto Penistone Road. Keep going straight on all the way to J36 and then join the M1 North from there. If you're going this way make sure you disinfect 1st as you go straight past Swillsborough!

Route 2 is spot on. The A61 will take you straight to junction 36.
You can also go over Hanover Way and down Netherthorpe Road to get to the A61, it all depends on which side of the ground you park up at initially.

I get back to Birley for about 5:15pm every week. May feel like a long way round but from there you can get to the Kiveton junction in 10 mins.

Depends how long it took you ?

As a driver plan other routes it's not rocket science
Its all very well saying that, but until you try out a route you dont know how easy/quick it is, especially immediately after a game when traffic is heavy. So I did the easiest thing, asked people who know. No need to be a dick about it.
