Sheffield United are considering a move for want-away Bristol City goalkeeper Adriano Basso.

The Blades are lining-up potential replacements for Paddy Kenny, who risks missing the new Championship season after testing positive for a banned substance.

And the Post understands Bristol City's Basso will become a prime target for United boss Kevin Blackwell should Republic of Ireland star Kenny be found guilty by a Football Association disciplinary inquiry next month.

City's long-serving keeper has been placed on the transfer list at his own request after refusing to sign a new Ashton Gate contract and the club is prepared to listen to offers for the 34-year-old Brazilian.

Sources in south Yorkshire suggest United's recent failed attempt to land City winger Michael McIndoe will not deter them from bidding for Basso.
