It's more important to be clear to the players. He doesn't want to slag players off to the media or give stuff away. I'd be very happy with him giving us minimal details if we win as many games as possible.He needs to ditch the cliched management speak and give us clarity on how he's going to sort out this mess.
Wow - the amount of times I walked by that pond as a kid - and fed the ducks
Brings back the memories of some special people.
Thanks G&J - not what you intended, but thanks, all the same![]()
Well you learn something every day. Cheers fella very interesting thatWhen originally released on Sugarhill, the record was credited to Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel (some international issues also carried the same credit). This was done to mislead the general public into believing that Grandmaster Flash participated on the record,[3] when in fact he played no part and had already left the Sugar Hill Records label the previous year.
I do believe you have made that up, just an opinion.I did my best, but I couldn't listen to more than six minutes, he just says what he thinks everyone wants to hear, it's all bollocks. Let's see what happens on Saturday.
As an aside, I was speaking to someone who was at the U18 game v Chesterfield, who I have no reason to disbelieve, I was told the mythical Lee Turnbull was there and getting text updates about the first team v Shrewsbury. Apparently, each goal conceded was met with guffaws of laughter by Turnbull and other coaching staff. In my opinion, that response accurately summarises what is currently wrong at Sheffield United, no one gives a fuck, except the fans![]()
Which I will be amazed at too tbh – that triple substitution on Tuesday was a pretty clear indication he wasn't at all happy, and once he got his standard twenty or so Adkinsisms out of the way you could clearly hear an angrier guy come the end of the interview.
Agreed I also thought the last 5 minutes he got down to the nitty gritty. Def an interview for the players and not the fans.
Let's see what Sat brings.

Well you can believe what you like, but I can assure you I've got better things to do than fabricate posts on here.
That is exactly what I was told, the person who told me was there in a professional capacity and has no axe to grind with anyone at Bramall Lane. I have no reason to disbelieve him?
Melle Mel worked on it based on Flash DJing the backing track but the actual backing track in the record was done by studio musicians and Mel was the only one of the Furious Five to actually feature on the record.Grandmaster Flash was a massive chancer. Despite his name being plastered about, he didn't really have anything to do with either 'The Message' or 'White Lines'. Both were Melle Mel tracks.
I think it was something about how we can find 11 players from our squad that compliment each other and can form a winning combination or some other far fetched bollocks. I've lost interest in reading posts about who should play where. They're shit and you can play whatever formation you like with whatever line up and they'll still be shit.He did good work sure, but all the famous records that bear him name he didn't have much to do with.
What were we talking about again?
Please don't refer to him as "Adko". It makes me rather mad, as though he's done nothing wrong.Sorry to butt in on William Henry territory (especially because I very much like his summaries of Adkins' interviews), but just listened to the latest, & found it very uninspiring tbh.

On the plus side, he seems to have recovered his spirits since Tuesday night, sounds upbeat & positive as usual, & sounds committed to the cause & very keen to turn things round.
On the negative side, there's a bit of a tendency to avoid answering difficult questions straight (which would have come in handy right now I feel) & there's not a lot of content about what he actually intends to do.
A bit more of a rallying cry of sorts than any sort of analysis of where we're going wrong & what needs to be done to put it right (other than being passionate).
Suppose the proof will be in the pudding, as to what transpires at Barnsley: full of heart & soul (as seems to be being demanded), or the usual confused/directionless/lacking-intensity muddle...
Seemingly in the minority, but I thought it was a very good interview. Now we all know talking a good game to the media means very very little, when the players "cross that white line", whether it has any impact will remain to be seen.
Given the situation and previous match, I don't think anything he said would appease all the fans. He could have slagged off individuals, admitted mistakes were made, glossed over it, made any number of excuses etc. I felt he was quite honest and frank, whilst maintaining a positive and professional manner.
Clearly he knows we have a group of potentially quite talented players, but he labored the point about effort and passion which every blade watching can see is missing. I hope I am not mistaken, and expect to see a couple of players dropped on Saturday - I don't know who, but these would be the players getting shipped out in January or the Summer.

Me too - his preferred back 4 for league games for the decent run we had early season was Mceveley, Collins,Edgar and Freeman and given he brought two of those on at half time (and took one off) I'd say there's a good chance it'll be Harris,Edgar,Mceveley and either Freeman or Brayford.Which I will be amazed at too tbh – that triple substitution on Tuesday was a pretty clear indication he wasn't at all happy, and once he got his standard twenty or so Adkinsisms out of the way you could clearly hear an angrier guy come the end of the interview.

So you're mate is suggesting Turnball and Adkins don't get on?
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;A bit more of a rallying cry of sorts than any sort of analysis of where we're going wrong & what needs to be done to put it right (other than being passionate).
I thought he was abroad, scouting.No not at all, he was just suggesting that he found it astonishing that they should be laughing and joking about the misfortunes of the first team, for obvious reasons. No suggestion at all that he was aware why they responded in that way. Just that it was the complete opposite reaction to what you'd expect if there was a united 'we're all in this together' type attitude at Bramall Lane?
I wasn't there personally, however I believe what he told me, as he has no reason to make it up. You are free to do as you wish.
I wouldn't even know if Turnbull was there, he's head scout so has no direct link to the U18's?
Henry V never had to manage the Blades though.Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead!
In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man,
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, conjure up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favoured rage:
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let it pry through the portage of the head,
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o’erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O’erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill’d with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide;
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English,
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought,
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument.
Dishonour not your mothers: now attest,
That those whom you call’d fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
The mettle of your pasture: let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game’s afoot:
Follow your spirit; and upon this charge,
Cry ‘God for Harry! England! and Saint George!'
That's more f**king like it![]()
