Adkins post match interview

I don't see as we have any choice than to wait for the fabled January signings Derek, can't see the odd loan player, if we were to get one, making any difference in the meantime. We just have to hope we can ride out the storm till then. There is s serious chance of a cup upset at the Lane coming up, judging by the talentless, insipid performances served up by this bunch of losers. Looks like they would rather be involved in a relegation scrap than a promotion one.

He didn't say 'we had no passion' He didn't say 'I don't seem to be able to motivate them' He didn't say 'we are not good enough' He didn't say 'Stick with me I'm going to sort it' all he said was we had enough chances (in the first 10 minutes) to have scored. His interview didn't motivate me!
 
Not the interview I was hoping for, but in honesty the interviewer gives him an easy ride as always.
 
He basically said

it was a bad defeat
at times we played some good stuff.
players need to look in the mirror and ask themselves why they are playing at this level.
we shouldn't be losing to Crewe.
he would like to have a settled team but it's not been possible
Some of these players are on long contracts and need to come to the forefront
Stick it in at one end and keep it out the other
 
I am an Adkins fan but he sounded tonight like he's given up on this team. Very worrying as I don't think he will get a chance to build another.
 



That wasn't very frank, that was the usual formulaic nonsense which gives me no confidence that things will get any better any time soon.

We've already had a good few lows this season, but losing to a bottom of the table side who haven't won at home in eight months is the worst yet. They ought to be embarrassed, and I'm glad the Blades fans gave them plenty when they dared to amble over at the end of the game. What a bunch of cunts, far too many of whom are not fit to wear our shirt.

I think this too. He seemed he stopped himself saying a few things to be honest. He knows he has to keep these players on side due to the fact he has no chance of moving them on. I think he is fully aware this group aren't what is needed and they probably embarrass him more than they embarrass us. I don't know how he doesn't go into the dressing room and committing GBH because when it comes down it they are ruining his reputation as well as the clubs.

I always think of that scene in the book of The Damned United where Brian Clough stands all the derby players up after a defeat and asks them one by one 'Do you want me to get fired?'. As they each say 'No boss' he tears into them 'Well why did you miss that sitter at 0-0', 'Why did you abdicate all responsibility in the centre of the park' etc etc.

I would have them in for training tomorrow morning at 9. Anyone late, absent or hungover gets fined 2 weeks wages. This should happen after every league game we don't win.

I'm shocked they're allowed to go out on benders tbh. It surprises me that Adkins allows it. I'm starting to think he has no say in the matter.

I think a few in this squad came here to play for Clough NOT Sheffield United I see two of these signings again come off having had no impact according to the commentary.
 
You cant polish a turd.

No matter what Adkins does with this group of players the end result will always be the same. They are simply not good enough no matter what tactics or system he deploys. They are mentally weak and not upto the task of playing for sheffield united football club.

Id there is one criticism of Adkins its that he didnt bomb out 2/3s of the squad whilst he had the chance. Who knows... Maybe he did and there were no takers even on loan so we were stuck with them.

I get what you're saying but he's not out to motivate you or i, he's going to try to say the best things that mean he will get more out of the players in the next game. Don't get me wrong, it's all bullshit but i'd rather we see actions on the pitch rather than a few meaningless words from an interview.
