There are big problems in the crowd which are negatively impacting the club in many ways.

UTB

How do you suppose this situation came to be though?

Do you believe our fans are just inherently nastier and more negative than other teams?

Or

Is it that Saturday was the cumulative effect of boardroom lie after boardroom lie after player indiscretion after utter shambolic decision after boardroom lie ater……. You get the picture.

From the board down to the players, this club has treated us fans like absolute shit for years and the anger is entirely understandable (even if I don’t agree with the way some express it).

Is singing “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” really so unjustified? These “footballers” have broken record after record lately. Never lost to Fleetwood, never lost at BL to Posh, never failed to beat Rochdale etc. I suspect Burton might get their first league goals and points at BL tonight too.

Playing a fairly good but wasteful half of football (no idea where all this talk of 60 minutes came from- I saw little in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half) does not excuse any of that. Players just looking at each other in self pitying bewilderment when we concede to yet another team built on a fraction of the budget ours was. Who visibly give up when they go behind. Who time-wasted at home against 10 man Bradford to get a draw last season. The hiding and lack of character was so evidence on Saturday as soon as the going got tough. Yes we had a decent 45 (not 60) minutes. Yes we should have scored a couple in that time. But let’s not take away from the fact that Rochdale paid us too much respect in the first half and were atrocious. They made 2 subs at half time and had a go at us and got the better of us in the 2nd half and our losers had absolutely no answer to it. These losers that our boardroom and previous manager put together and who our board refuse to improve upon whilst they are still under contract. And then we have the likes of Baxter, McNulty, De Girolamo, Freeman, Scougall etc. coming across as wankers off the pitch as well.

We have been badly let down by players and boardroom for far too many years and the fans are now trying to fight back in the only way some know how. You might not find it palatable but let’s not pretend that our fans played any part in putting us where we are. Our magnificent support has often elevated the club to more than the sum of it’s parts. Players and managers alike talk of those special nights at BDTBL under the floodlights and being the 12th man etc. I don’t think we were a problem when Nade mugged Toure and Sky had to turn the microphones off because we were too loud. Or when we all spontaneously gave the players a standing ovation after Hull’s 5th went in at Wembley. That’s before we even get into the financial advantages we’ve had and squandered through the sheer number of us who are still willing to come and given them chance after chance. But this has been a one sided relationship for far too long. There’s only so long an abused spouse will put up with something before they start fighting back.

Thick skin? We'd need a team of dinosaurs to deal with what they got on Saturday.

Oh...hang on.

Don't want to make light of it. It's a big problem and it is affecting our chances.

3-0 down at Wigan we were in it.

(Come to think of it 3-0 down at Swindon we were in it.)

2-0 down at Rochdale - having created and missed a hatful of chances - with a large number of fans abusing everyone and everything, we didn't stand a chance.

I think for many fans it’s become more about trying to effect change than giving us the best possible chance in a given match. Most of us want the club to be ruthless in the summer binning off these losers. By being very vocal that they are not fit to represent our club, we may put more pressure on the club to release them and re-build. I’m willing to continue to back the manager as he’s had to work in difficult circumstances but these players (bar the odd exception) don’t deserve any more benefit of the doubt.

At 2-0 at Wigan the Beard crossed for Billy and he blazed over. I honestly thought we were well in it.

2-0 Satdi we had no chance.

Fwiw I don't see it as optimism eg I was texting family and friends Satdi saying we have to score or we're going to lose. It was one of those games.

And we could still be playing at Bury now and we wouldn't've scored :-(

Anyway posts and responses much appreciated.

Massively disagree about Wigan. They looked superior to us all over the park and our only hope was containing them. As soon as we went behind, we were done.

One hour of football in 7 months? Yeah I'd say so.

Let’s not forget that this “best hour of football” produced about four half chances and one or two good chances, none of which were taken against a very poor team letting us have it all our own way who had been so bad that two got hooked at half time. The very fact that that is our “best” shows just how bad the overall picture is and the level of contempt these utter wankers deserve (collectively- there would be the odd individual I would spare but the collective is and has been atrocious for far too long).

Disgust/embarrassing/anger are words easily said about the tits at spotland, whether we have lost anything as a team due to the aforementioned i doubt it

They’re also words that come easily when describing the team most weeks.

Do you not think we have played like fannies this season ? 9 points out of 10 games since the turn of the year is pretty poor IMO.
I see a team with hardly any fight (maybe except Wigan and Bradford away), no leadership, no bottle, sideways passes, no responsibility. Sharp I think is the exception. They haven't got a friggin clue what it should mean to put on our white and red stripes (see what i did there ? :))

I agree Rochdale seemed to be a watershed moment, the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. I don't condone it, and it's not going to help. I wasn't there but it wouldn't surprise me if it was pre-orchestrated.

Big problems in the crowd impacting the club ??? turn that one around 180 degrees i reckon.

One thing i hope i agree with you on, that we're slowly starting to address the issues. Let's revisit in a years time and see.

I think the manager is trying to address the issues but is being hamstrung by those above him. The players he’s brought in haven’t generally been great but have been an attempt to address some of our shortcomings.

Proven goalscorer

Height/muscle (Hammond, Sammon Edgar, Woolford)

Character- Hammond was captain of back to back promoted team and promoted Leicester team. Edgar is an international captain and Sharp would run through brick walls for the club.

Those are areas where we were desperately lacking but there are other areas where we desperately lack too.

Pace- especially since the sale of Murphy

Creativity- especially since the sale of Murphy

We’re probably still not there in terms of height and character either but Adkins has shown these are things he’s trying to improve. He needs more backing to get the team where it needs to be. I’m quite happy for the vitriol to be aimed at the players who have let him and us down and the board who have also let him and us down. Yes he’s got things wrong but he seems to be genuinely doing his best to fix the situation where as board and players have been cheating us for years.

Bless their little cotton socks.

The nasty fans are being naughty to them and Daddy Adkins is trying to protect them. The poor, defenceless souls.

We should stop them from turning up so nobody can have any hurt feelings

Oh, judging by the way they are playing, maybe that's the plan?

They won’t have to worry about big nasty crowds or “high” expectations where they’ll all be going anyway. I think they’ll cope better at clubs like Barnet, Newport, Mansfield, Crawley etc. The little darlings won’t have to play on Desso pitches in big stadiums to 20,000 big meanies willing them to succeed. Their nightmare will soon be over.

Will somebody please think of the players!

Problem is, we're seeing quite a few of these "straw that broke the camel's back" situations (Rochdale, Bury, Swindon, Shrewsbury, Crewe...) & the camel just keeps crawling along.

When Nige said he feared it'll get worse before it gets better, I doubt he had the crowd scenes at Rochdale in mind. But I doubt very much that's the last of it.
