In the absence so far of an in depth summary two key points I picked out from it
1) he does expect to make a signing before the end of the emergency loan window (in fact says "we need to")
2) he is definitely saying that the crowd is having an effect on the players (says we need to find players who can have a "special mentality to deal with that")

So we need players with some bollocks?

Interesting.

Hmm, I interpreted it initially as a veiled criticism of the fans but actually that may also be what he's saying.

If they didn't play like fannies and played like they give a shit, then that particular situation would resolve itself :)
Wizardy, well said.... couldn't agree more.

UTB.

At least I get cheap tickets after tomorrow.

I think if the interview would've been after the watershed he'd have said exactly this. :)

Doubt it.

He'd have said "I want players who want to play for this football club and can win football matches. I don't want to play football matches with players who don't think they can win football matches. This football club need football players who are capable of playing football matches for this football club".

:D

Don't know why anyone bothers with the summaries. Two pictures would suffice.

It's a story the Haters like to tell themselves. Doesn't make it true.

For an hour on Saturday we played our best sustained football of the season. But we missed chance after chance - maybe Che wasn't trying - and then the first shot on target we had conceded for two and a half hours went in.

The response was utterly disgusting abuse, violence, and intimidation of the team, individual players, the opposition, and other United fans - amongst others.

There's no excuse for what happened on Saturday. None at all.

There are issues in the team and throughout the club but as far as I can see they are gradually being addressed.

There are big problems in the crowd which are negatively impacting the club in many ways.

Is it the biggest challenge we face? I don't know.

I hope these can be successfully addressed too.

The manager and the players have my full support.

It's been true pretty much all season.

For an hour on Saturday we played our best sustained football of the season. Which still resulted in yet another loss.

There are issues in the team and throughout the club but as far as I can see they are gradually being addressed. There's absolutely no evidence to suggest this being the case whatsoever.

Is it the biggest challenge we face? I don't know. You do know. It's not.

Seems to be a bit of a vicious circle at the moment - crowd need the players to lift them and vice versa. Some of what I've heard about our fans at Rochdale in particular is despicable, but equally the players need have a thicker skin in times like these - a bit of siege mentality would do them no harm at all "at this moment in time".

The crowd behaved impeccably in the home game against Port Vale and were given a reasonable though not massively convincing performance by the team.

What happened on Saturday doesn't deserve veiled criticism, it deserves forthright condemnation.

I agree on that, though I was assuming (maybe wrongly) that he was talking of the wider issue of fans frustration, booing etc, rather than specifically that game. Has there been anything from the club? I haven't seen owt.

Thick skin? We'd need a team of dinosaurs to deal with what they got on Saturday.

Oh...hang on.

Don't want to make light of it. It's a big problem and it is affecting our chances.

3-0 down at Wigan we were in it.

(Come to think of it 3-0 down at Swindon we were in it.)

2-0 down at Rochdale - having created and missed a hatful of chances - with a large number of fans abusing everyone and everything, we didn't stand a chance.

I'm meaning in general rather than that particular game. 2-0 down at home to Wigan we weren't in it!

I admire your constant optimism but I can't share it I'm afraid. I'm not with the constant slashers either, just somewhere in the middle and very pissed off about football right now.

The consistent, and fair I think, message has been let it out at the end.

Even given the extreme provocation of our underperformance actually non-performance, at Bury that's what happened. I didn't dare stick around at the end to witness the, er, depth of feeling - I imagine it was ugly. But it was at the end. From memory literally one fan tried a, "Sack the board," and got nothing.

As for a statement about Saturday I think the club are in a very difficult situation - but someone should be able to come up with something.

It's the culmination of two seasons of the employees of Sheffield United showing this club nothing but disdain for the club on the pitch.
They deserve nothing but utter contempt until they are gone.

They only thing I condemn about Saturday is the way some knuckle-draggers acted towards those at Rochdale FC and to each other.
I detest these players.

At 2-0 at Wigan the Beard crossed for Billy and he blazed over. I honestly thought we were well in it.

2-0 Satdi we had no chance.

Fwiw I don't see it as optimism eg I was texting family and friends Satdi saying we have to score or we're going to lose. It was one of those games.

And we could still be playing at Bury now and we wouldn't've scored :-(

Anyway posts and responses much appreciated.

Our best hour of football is utter disdain?
