Some on here think its playground kickabout togger.

There was plenty of criticism of Clough - and some of it has been shown to be justified but I've got RSI from Ignoring the amount of braindead, infantile, vindictive, self-indulgent, dummy-spitting crap posted on this forum recently.

As always there's good stuff here,.and it's not always unquestioining acceptance of the team, but it's been harder to filter it out of the sewage.

No
Good try WHF but it's The Prodigy ;)

Er...I know. (Btw wasn't this the one with the pov video with a twist at the end?)

I was going for other Burn(ing) related lyrics and picked
a (classic) song called *Burn*ing Down The House featuring the lines about "pack your bags, Time for jumping overboard", which I thought were apt.

That was Smack My Bitch Up. Firestarter was him in the tunnel.

Why not just admit it, you think Adkins is a useless cunt and should be sacked?
He's made one major error so far - and that's not strengthening the defence in 2 months. Only after Gillingham did he panic buy a defender most of us had never even heard of - on loan that is as well. It's not good enough.

IF he doesn't strengthen defence and midfield in the loan market with convincing signings and the defeats continue then nobody will need to justify themselves for criticising him and/or the board.

No matter how billy big bollocks a manager is meant to be, if he makes basic errors I will highlight them.

For now though it's stupid to get on his back when he has a chance to redeem himself to a certain extent in the loan market. It's just a shame it's cost us 9 points in the meantime.

Whooooosh ;)

Is he? Didn't Baxter miss one last season too? He's been mostly reliable, but not quite up to pin-point Ports precision levels. I don't think there's much in it tbh – as I've already said, Sharp has been a consistent penalty taker everywhere he's been.

Baxter missed one I think in a cup game? Other then that, he has been pretty spot on with pens.

Adkins has made a few mistakes - he made Jay captain, he didnt sort out the defence until the season had began (bar bringing Collins back, and whether its now "sorted" is up for debate), he didnt bring in a midfield enforcer, he has played Baxter as a holding middy, when he isnt one.

Unfortunately, you only have to miss one to be deemed crap at penalties in this current climate.
Not at all but Billy doesn't inspire much confidence in me same as anyone else who puts spot kicks down the middle. Any keeper who stands up or who dives after the ball is kicked saves it. My opinion is a good spot kick should be hit at pace just inside the post, even if the keeper guesses right he has little chance of making a save. Most of Billy's spot kicks have been too close to the keeper, I don't mean this as a criticism some players just have a better technical ability when striking the ball as Baxter does. For the good of the team Adkins should pick Baxter as penalty taker rather than one of his old buddies we had enough of that shit with Nigel One playing his mates when they were bang crap or not fit.

Disagree with pretty much all of this, tone and content.

Over their full careers:

Billy Sharp has scored 17 pens, missed 5, i.e 77% conversion rate
Jose Baxter has scored 13, missed 4, i.e. 76% conversion rate
JCR has scored 8, missed 3, i.e. 72% conversion

(All numbers from transfermarkt)

The Premiership average is 85%.

I knew I could count on someone to provide some solid statistical view – thanks Bergen!

The Bundesliga conversion rate seems to be absurdly high. This season anyway.

Fwiw for JCR isn't 8/11 72.727272...ie 73%.

Nerd Corner: The elevenths are the 9 times table recurring. And you *can* think of the ninths as the 11 times table recurring.

Four weeks? How come Wallace takes a year?

and Coutts

what about Done?

Seriously if Brayford is back in four weeks time that's a great effort from the man and the support team.

Sure is - I was surprised too! My mate was stone cold sober too, so he definitely heard right! Also said Brayford was a top bloke & he can't wait to get playing again.

I was expecting him to be back a little sooner, then again, that may just have been his natural enthusiasm :)

A few weeks ago when I saw him he was due an MRI to see how things looked, but he felt ready to start training rather than the running he'd been doing.

Saying Sharp will be taking the next penalty smacks of favouritism we can all see he is bobbins at taking pens, there are better penalty takers than Billy at the club Adkins should pick the best one for the job. As poor a decision as making J Mac captain what with that and the bladecoaster crap I'm beginning to wonder if Adkins is losing the plot. :(
Here we go again.......

Let's remind everyone that you're judging him from a position where you believe he should have off loaded half the squad, without even the most basic understanding of how that might be done.

Your "Adkins has ruined our season by taking stock" thread was almost legendary in its' stupidity.

Let's not let the facts get in the way if a good story though Bergs.

It's done by making an attempt. Until that point, whether or not it would have been a success cannot be determined. It might have been a success, it might not have but what's certain is that if you don't make an attempt, you don't get success. Simple as that.

On another day that penalty would have stood as a miss all day long, there's no getting away from that. I've been watching football for a fair amount of time and it's rare I see such a decision from a ref with a penalty and it's hard to believe no other keepers do what Colchester's did on a regular basis.

Doesn't erase either the fact it was a terrible pen, with little accuracy and pace. Compare it with Baxter's penalties from last season and I just can't understand why Adkins has made another wavering decision to add to the collection of making McEveley captain and talking some bollocks about Bladeacoasters after successive home defeats.

Just depends really where you view it from. I was at the kop end of the John Street, and the keeper was well off his line, officials did the right thing.

It seemed immediately obvious to me that the keeper had come to meet Sharp about halfway. I pointed it out to WHF Jr Sr at the time.

Of course all keepers move to some extent but he'd gone much too early.

Credit to the officials, linesman in particular, for doing their job.

Generally I thought they had a good game on Tuesday - with the one obvious and persistent exception of not booking the keeper for time-wasting.

Just watched the Colchester keeper do the same again against the Gillingham penalty taker, this time without it being retaken, cheating twohat.

Facts are meaningless anyone can use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true. Where's the fun in that ;-)
