Ade Akinbiyi is a target for both Crystal Palace and Birmingham City

Both Peter Taylor and Steve Bruce have made no secret of their desire to sign another striker and will move for Akinbiyi if Sheffield United are successful in landing David Nugent from Preston North End.

Palace boss Taylor famously signed Akinbiyi for £5m while in charge at Leicester City.

Although that move did not work out, nor a subsequent spell at Selhurst Park, the experienced frontman has since proved himself to be a very effective forward at Championship level, with Stoke City, Burnley and then the Blades.

Yep nugent in and akinbiyi out will do for me.

Seeing the price some players go for it's hard to say.
Heskey's not a £5m player but he sopld for it, Duff was/is worth more than £5m but went for that too.

For Nugent I'd say £3.5m plus a clause for an extra million after appearances.

Yes, before you say it, great goal at Hillsborough, etc but that still doesnt make him good.

However, if you did happen to get rid and bring in Nugent, that is a excellent bit of business!

Only they were so gullable enough to buy Andy the shirt tugger. Don't forget there are a lot of people who will offer silly money, so Im pretty sure we can sell Ade for a reasonable price if it came to that at all.

I know some papers are quoting £4m for Nugent so £2.5m plus if Akinbiyi is rated about £1m and Luketti back more or less makes that up.

I know it doesn't work like that but just an idea.

Sorry missed your post, just going on some valuations I have seen it more or less wok=rks out even, it's like swapping foottball cards at school as I said before I know it doesnt work like that but would we miss the two players that much, getting in Nugent gets the striking options back and we will probably go for a defender with the new injection of cash further pushing Luketti down the order.

Would be a tough one for Warnock if all of a sudden Shipperly said he wanted to go because of lack of games but solid offers came in for Akinbiyi, who would you let go if you could get in Nugent aswell with only releasing one of them?
