Adams & DCL - A Positive View

Here's a thought, what about keeping Adams and DCL AND investing in the final 3 to 4 missing jigsaw pieces?

It doesn't have to be one or the other, but it obviously will be.

I concentrate very carefully on what they do and don't do; what they say and don't say. They want this deal to finance other business. They think the loss of Ché is a price worth paying to strengthen us overall.

Which is fair enough IF it happens - history suggests we won't though.

That costs money: this year's plan is like the plan during the Weir era - keep it cheap.

That's what annoys me about United.

There's always something they want to try and benefit on WHILST going up.

That is possible but it's much harder and requires far more skill.

Most teams that have gone up on a small budget have built their squad up slowly over the years.

If you want to build a squad for promotion in one pre-season, you normally have to spend money.

Can't have it both ways. You spend the money or you don't go up.

Take Bristol City for example, shit squad to a promotion squad in one pre-season. Spent money.

Yes it is a problem, selling highly rated youngster players and replacing them with end of career, injury prone 30+ year olds is what's kept us in this division for 6 years

But the 30+ year old journeymen have usually been dropping down a division or two and wank.

True, danger is this one stays in same division and is w@@@, age catches up, especially when injury prone and I can't imagine he's been the best trainer over the years !

No DCL on Tuesday Vs Hallam or Last Night Vs Derby... Is he injured does anyone know? Or is he on the way out?

I wonder if United are planning to sell both of them?

Well DCL was there last night, I saw him in the back of that ticket office where they were selling Bolton tickets.

Wrong, doesn't matter who the manager is you can't sell a £3m player and reinvest £300k and improve the team....remember Murphy and Woolford ? Harry and McEverly ? etc etc Wilder is a Blades supporting lower league manager not a magician !

£300k? That's about what Clarke has cost us - and we've brought in six others. The fact is, any money we get for Che has probably already been re-invested in fees and wages.

Which is why we've got to sign the players we want from clubs who are likely to try and extort us ASAP, before selling Adams. We know we can get good money for him, so there's no need to wait.

Always a risky policy. Ever signed up for a new house because someone promised that they'd buy yours? Newcastle have pulled out and there's no other takers on the horizon. We can't wait and haven't waited in re-building the squad - boldness all round from United.

Maybe we have?
