Everyone can see it bar the manager but we are just 'punters' is anyone really surprised that the top of the league and the highest scorers in the league were going to try to push an extra 5-10 yards up the pitch against a team in the bottom 3 who have just lost their last 2 games and have a substitute goalkeeper on, apparently wilder was

What i dont understand is that even looking at the timeline on this thread, it started in January 2023, and virtually every post (one of mine included) is slating Davies and saying he is a bombscare of a goalkeeper and an absolute liability in the air. Over 2 and a half years later and guess what....

Heads should roll for the sheer and utter negligence shown in still having this waster as our back up keeper. Its pathetic. Feck sake, even Wednesday went out and got a much better keeper than Davies with a late emergency loan. Its not difficult to find much better competition for Coops. It basically just sums up this club. Happy to make do and hope it will turn out ok. Well sometimes it doesnt. Easy money for the lad though. Paid very well for being abysmal at his job. Same as our scouts it seems.

I had a mental struggle tonight to even watch it on telly. Missed the first half doing something useful, amazed to switch the radio on and find out we were in the lead.

Just got settled on the sofa and rubber wrists struck. 😭😭😭😭😭
 
As an ex goalie, I’m a huge goalkeeper apologist, but yesterday when their second went in, I genuinely wanted to leave the ground and get a head start on the journey home. I had to be convinced to stay (till the 79th minute)

His angles when cov were attacking were appalling. Teams are going to shoot on sight. We are in trouble!

Our only real hope if he is to stay between the sticks is if he was just a bag of nerves yesterday, and will improve with more game time.

The age of this thread tells it's own story. He has been understudy to at least 3 goalies, that cannot be right. Your 2nd choice should be someone who is likely to step up to be first choice in the future.
 
He is utter dog shit and an embarrassment to the position of goalkeeper to think one bit we had Tracey/Kelly jostling for the position.

But hes not the only useless cunt currently playing for us, keep reading we were "unlucky" that is bollocks, we lost end of.

This club is currently toxic starting at the top and cascading, much like heads should roll for signing crocks the people who give useless bastards like this a wage need routing out, when the pigs stick 4 or 5 past this one hopefully that starts some action.
 

Not apologising for Davies at all, he was wretched last night but generally you have to feel sorry for keepers who make mistakes. If an outfield player mistimes a tackle he gives away a free kick and it's forgotten. If a keeper mistimes a punch and gives away a goal it's a much bigger deal.

Davies is by all accounts a decent bloke and a good squad member. If he reads this I hope he doesn't take anything personally. No one will be more upset at conceding three goals - two of them soft - than Davies himself.

I've no ill-will towards him and wish him all the best for the future, but we are looking to improve every position and there will be out of work keepers who are better. He's under contract for the rest of the season but we should try to sell him or send him out on loan in January and get a younger replacement in.

I went through the squads of other championship teams last night, even Wednesday have a better second choice in Hovarth.

We have in my opinion comfortably the worst. There wasn't a single second (or even third in some cases) choice keeper I wouldn't have took over that fucking embarrassment to the profession.
 
Everyone makes mistakes and a goalie’s are obviously magnified. However….. if I’d been stuck on the bench for years getting splinters in my backside, whilst the club brings in the likes of Grbic and continues to play Cooper when injured/out of form - then when I got my chance and that ball came in I’d have punched it, along with whatever defenders/attackers were in my way, as far as Leamington Spa.

If Faxon is worse than Davies then he must be Stephen Hawking levels.

Having said that I was once one of those calling for George Long to come in when Simmo was throwing about one a week into the net, turned out George was worse.
 
Surelt the fact that every time he plays for us, everyone is waiting for the inevitable goalkeeper calamity to happen, should be (and should have a long long time ago) sending a clear message to all that he is in no way good enough.

Sod it, pay me £5k a week and i will be on the bench as goalkeeping sub each week, be a decent chap in the dressing room, be a 'culture carrier', and if needed i can also be a total liability in the sticks.

Whats particularly galling is that everyone knows that in the last 3 years we all know he absolute pony and couldnt catch a cold. The opposition know this and quite rightly target this area and sling crosses in ans we are fucked i.e. last night.

I can excuse a last minute rushed emergency goalkeeper signing not being great. Sometimes circumstances outside your control happen. But there is simply no excuse for his initial signing (he was a poor choice when he was signed and there were other options - even Stoke fans said we had signed the wrong spare that they had available), and even less excuse for giving him another 2 year deal in the summer of 2024 after we had seen him for a year first hand. If i was CWs boss i would be asking him just what the fuck he is doing still having AD as a goalkeeper in our squad. Id rather have Faxon in our net going forward.
 
Davies has his limitations, but nothing as big as those our leaders and recruitment team have to not have sourced a better option.

If he's any sense, he'll find a way out from here somehow.

Meanwhile, the old boys club at SUFC will continue to fail us.

And that is where the issue truly lies.
