Yeah, with a competent goalkeeping performance that’s a comfortable 3-0 win. A shame, and it made for a nervy finish, but at least it didn’t cost us any points this time.

* note: I like Cooper. I think he is a more than competent championship-level keeper. But that was not a competent performance. If that’s because he’s carrying an injury, we need to get him out the side until he’s recovered. I think Davies would likely have prevented both goals.

The lad might be carrying an injury and playing through pain barrier for you..this time last year you wanted 15 million for him..

A fully fit and functioning Michael Cooper is a £15m goalkeeper.

In their spells at United, I'd have him over Ramsdale (easily) and not a lot between him & Dean Henderson. He is that good.
Henderson perhaps edged him in terms of shot stopping (though not loads in it) but Cooper's command of his area and general decision making is second to none.

We got him for £2m because of these risks. We walked into it eyes wide open and we were right to take the gamble as we very nearly made it to the PL and he'd have played an enormous role in that.

Sad to see him demise. Really hope he gets himself right.

My take on the first goal was that he could see that if he caught it and collided with Seriki then he would risk dropping the ball and the player challenging with Seriki would have a tap in. He made the decision to let the ball go out for a goal kick, not realising that there was another attacker behind. So it was actually good forward thinking made to look bad by the second attacker.
The second goal can happen with shots these days. The midfielder had plenty of time and space to hit the ball exactly as he wanted, to make it move in the air like it did. Better keepers than Cooper have been deceived by excessive mid flight movement.
When things aren’t going for you everything goes against you but he is still a top keeper
