On 25 February 2012, Barton suffered a suspected triple leg break and a dislocated ankle in a 0-0 draw against Walsall FC.

He's surely not fit?

Looking at the Preston site he was expected to maybe start pre-season. Depends how his re-hab has gone I guess.

He impressed me when we played Coventry (2-2 under Clough when Baxter was sent off). Played holding midfield then. Was a cheating twat getting some stick off blades but was effective. Don't know how he's done at Pompey since leaving Cov.

Ive seen a bit of him and he seems decent in defence and midfield

Had a lot of injury problems at Coventry, that's why he's in L2. Was very highly thought of at first. Has only just started playing centre half.
