This is Arsenal who just paid 50m for Ben White and are trying to get Maddison who Leicester rate at 70m.

Let's not totally have our pants by our ankles on this one.

As the season is underway I'm more concerned now about a replacement. No team wants to go scratching for a first choice keeper so near the season beginning and a lot of the free options are now gone plus it will be obvious we've just received a lump of cash, no matter how satisfied we are with it.

It feels like we're in a no-win situation here. On the one hand, if selling Ramsdale meant we could keep Berge, then I'd be fine with it. Keepers are replaceable. £25m ball-playing midfielders are not.

But if we accept that Berge is leaving one way or another, it feels like a gut-punch to contemplate losing both.

Berge is a high quality player whom we must not lose OR
Berge may be a high quality player but does he actually suit us or affect the outcome of our games ? Without his fee coming in , can we actually do what is patently necessary + improve on Fleck & Norwood ?
I DON'T KNOW THE CLUB'S FINANCES.
If we can do the necessary yet keep Berge , fair play.
But if we need the money from his sale , we have to sell him , coz we are not getting promoted with Fleck & Norwood in midfield , they produce nothing going forward which will lead to goals + their set-pieces are abysmal.

There is absolutely no benefit in Ramsdale taking part in the League Cup against 4th tier opposition.

Even if he was to go, I could completely see this as a legitimate management choice just as it was to not pick Berge or Egan or McGoldrick.

All these guys are certs to start and they all had the night off.

I think this is more of a happy coincidence.

Ramsdale is probably the best keeper we’ve had in a long time with a ball at his feet. If we want to pass it 1million times before we have a shot then it’s vital we have another keeper who’s comfortable too

You don’t know that….he may have had other offers on the table. Plus you’re suggesting then that we could have signed a better keeper on a shorter deal. Maybe given we needed a keeper this was the best option from others available. Not like we were signing a third keeper as cover while having a clear 2 fit and ahead of him…he was basically coming in as a number 2 given Moore’s injury.


Interesting that Wilder has suddenly become a manager who loved to waste the clubs money. Odd
