'Memries' A year since Wilder left and the Selles era began!

Why does the choice have to be so fucking binary?

Full disclosure here, I was on board with the Selles move, more of a gut feeling than evidence based really. It seemed clear that he was more of a fit for the way forward, the new way of doing things.

Truth is, it was a catastrophe. A change had to be made. Only 6 games yes, but the direction of travel was as clear as day.

I wasn’t on board with a Wilder return. His past record puts him amongst the very top echelon of our managers, certainly in my time.

But time catches us all up, it certainly has with me. Life changes, football changes. It just so happens, in my humble opinion, that COH, supposedly a group of successful people, have fumbled the changes needed.

To give Wilder his due, he did achieve what he was mandated to achieve upon his latest return.

He kept us up. Objective achieved.

Alan Knill, his trusted lieutenant, has left. Sad, but this change could refresh things, could refresh Wilder maybe?

It’s going to be a tough season ahead. Parachute payments stopped, the dross / quality ratio doesn’t fill me with optimism. Our appalling inability to keep players fit, a questionable at best recruitment policy are some of the challenges to be faced.

There can be no excuses now. No saying “but Selles”. It’s like blaming Covid for the country’s current ills. It’s bollocks basically. Time moves on, adjust, adapt, stop blaming things that are ancient history.
This. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Ye losing every single game is fine as long as you go to the fans after
If you build a team on supposed character and 'connection', you don't get to repeatedly jog off down the tunnel when 'your' team have been beaten, leaving them to face the fans, only fronting up when it's been a good day and still expect to be taken seriously.

Thats the total opposite of 'I get it' and being a fan.

Visible leadership is more important in tough times and far easier when the suns shining and everything's working out well.

Sacking a manager who got 90 points after a significant rebuild was monumentally dumb. Like a bloke cheating on his wife because the thrill of someone else who could potentially be better only to realise the new woman is fucking terrible after blowing up your life and it's going to take years to rebuild the relationship even if you do get back together!!
Are things working out?

COH just picked the wrong bit on the side

Still in the awkward can't take the piss too much early stages of repair due to the catastrophic break up...
Stick at it mate - start slowly , perhaps drop in the odd sarcastic comment from time to time when she's least expecting it , then progress on to a few disagreements before full on taking the piss

By all means accuse the Wilder fanboys (like me), of being 'Bladey Blade', but on what planet do you thiny 'Brexit' is relevant? Apart from the fact that it takes a pure football thread into a political row, (which obviously we all really look forward to), it is just plain wrong.

Whatever point you may have being trying to make, is lost in your very clumsy stereotypical generalisation.

Oh please, stop being a smart arse. I'm not trying to invoke a "political row" as you very well know, so climb back down of your high horse pal.

What no one seems to mention is that 3 of our owners have backed Chris Wilder, some on multiple occasions.
The owners being the people who put the most money 'investment' as some like to call it, into our club.

Perhaps they know something that some on social media seem unable to accept.

So why is the vitriol that is aimed at Chris Wilder, not aimed at the people who have employed him?
