Interestingly, I can't see that the words "sheffield united" are currently registered and so the club have no recourse to prevent products being sold that only use the club's name.

If you look at say, Arsenal or the Premier League, they have word listings for their organisations as well as all their badges, current and expired.

And if you look at Sheffield Wednesday, their only current trademarks are for D Taxis and Elev8.... no club badge anywhere!

I saw your earlier post on this thread and have just noticed that there is no sign of the club badge on this forum. I use club badges on my site so was basically wondering whether I should take them down?

Use of the club badge is the main issue from what I understand so I would say removing the badge would be wise.

Great to hear FORGED IN STEEL is trademarked. May it be used till the end of time itself.

Don’t underestimate their lack of common sense. We live in a village in North Notts called Everton. Guess which football club’s lawyers tried to stop the local farm shop calling themselves...Everton Farm Shop (their branding and logo were nothing like the football one)? The Farm Shop eventually won but had to go to the time and expense of defending themselves.
I spoke to the people about this when we went to the shop. It was just another thing they were having to deal with at the time.

Interesting regarding the model train. A B16 (I think), 'Footballer' class was made by Rails of Sheffield many years ago as a Ltd edition. Hornby recently launched an updated model, but their has yet to be a 'Sheffield United'. The nameplate never had a badge, just a brass football and the team colours under the name. It would be interesting to know how much Hornby pays for all this stuff.

Hope the independents keep coming out with the brilliant t shirts.
Bought loads over the years and wouldn't part with a single one. So much more relevant than the sanitised official stuff at 5 x the price.

I don't know the answer but people going on about club crest and such and copyright's, how would this affect say a tattooist who over time will do tons of United tattoos, especially the crest.

The trademark is limited by context. The club haven't registered their trademark under any tattoo class (if one exists).
