I'm a Blade and i'm not sad today..........................hey up Micky sort em out !

Nope, I'm not happy with the board once again misleading the supporters.
It's damaging the fabric of the club to the point of no repair.

Very few Blades seem to be sad today, BB. From people I've spoken to, it seems like a very popular appointment. I've got a good feeling about this, could be a real turning point.

So to summarise, you think it's a decent appointment but aren't happy about the process the club's gone through to appoint him? Well at least you're going to give Adams your support and not hold something like this against the team.

Why would anyone need to summarise six lines?
I don't think there's anything hard to grasp.
Who really cares that the manager of Port Vale is now the manager of Sheffield United?
It was an obvious appointment, a classic Blades Way appointment, it hardly stirs the blood.

This is deja vu. A carbon copy of the day Blackwell was appointed. I was in a minority of one in doubting the wisdom of his appointment whilst the gullible celebrated. It's happening again.

History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.

You're absolutely right - but managers of Bury, Watford and Rotherham haven't done too badly in the past. Whereas World Cup winners, Premier League winners and leading ex players have traditionally disappointed. It is indeed the Blades way - and it keeps the conversation going.

And no problem with that.
Just don't bullshit supporters in the first place.

Its more like the day Bassett was appointed. Although I am confident that you will see that you are wrong about the style of football you are expecting.

Despite most Donny Barnsley and Wednesday fans opinions ive read
http://yorkshire.the-talk.net/t3982-micky-fucking-adams
i happen to think this could be a good appointment for united, he needs to get rid of the hole team and start again and i think you lot need to be happy just being in the championship for the next 5 years wile he sorts the mess out so you can start again and move on

I was against Speed BEFORE he was appointed but kept my peace whilst he was in the job. The key now Pinchy is to shut up criticising, back the man and not to jump down his throat at the first opportunity.

Totally agree Nick. Many fans have said it's the most logical appointment and reminds them of the day Bassett was appointed. He was criticised for his style of football as well.

I suspect we will see a more direct style under Micky initially at least. If we try and play pretty passing football we will be in serious trouble with these players. We can't defend and only have one midfielder in Britton who can be trusted to retain possession (Reid is going back soon). In my view, a good manager isn't one who forces a style of play on to players who can't cope with it, and I can't see us having a big clear out in January, not least because who is going to want to sign players such as Quinn and Ched on their large contracts?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have seen SOD here playing great passing football. Like many on here, I first started watching Currie and Woodward and have seen some good and a lot of rubbish, in every division, but if Micky first installs a bit of spirit and keeps us up and then is allowed to build his own team playing his style then I won't complain too much and I will certainly give him more than just this season. If he does build a team that resembles the team under Blackwell then I will certainly complain, I hated that with a passion but PV fans seem to suggest he is now playing decent football and if he can bring in a few of the youngsters as well then all the better.

I think we can safely file you under 'gives it out but can't take it' young man. That's just below 'coward'.

Whatever mate. You know best as you born before me. Makes you right. You are filed under 'Gives it out but closes his ears and shouts lalala' So much for older and wiser.:hello::hello::hello:

Can someone just remind me of what these "dark days" were?

Every season apart from the triple assualt and the promotion!

You've got to be joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep your right, can't see Micky Mouse lasting as long as Robson. lol

I really hope you are right, Nick. If so, I shall be the first to:

a) Acknowledge I got it wrong;

b) Celebrate.

I only want my team to play well and be successful. Unlike some I regard the former as just as important as the latter. Everything else flows from that.

Its not a case of 'who is right' mate. It's about respect. It's also about not whinging when you hit someone and they hit you back.

The problem is though. Until we see them playing football under Adams, no one will know what style of football we will play.

Micky Mouse does:

Micky Adams on style of play: "We want a winning style. We want to get the ball in the box as soon as we can without taking that extra touch."

Sounds like hoofball to me.

Perhaps he's been watching Mark Yeates,

But that also sounds like he wants the balls to be crossed into the box when the opportunity arises instead of trying to take the player on again.

or respect? Like slagging someone off before he even starts a job? Where was me whining back to you? I responded back to your post of the im a bigger blade because im older. Nice.

And me, though it rather depends on the obvious supplementary question - 'from where?'

I'll reserve judgement though, as I've promised Grumpy.

Big Trev's target according to the interview on RS Football Heaven 14th December:

Someone who will be enthusiastic about the job .
Someone who has worked in the NPC before.
Must get the team playing in a way that will encourage fans to attend and enjoy what they are seeing.
A record of targeting players in the lower leagues and making a successful transition to our level.

There was also a comment about working with the academy but I don't have it to hand.

Fill yer boots then Yossi.

Sorry I've not been online since this afternoon to reply to this.

Ok, first off let me point out that as SOD didn't fill all the criteria, not all these do. We discussed previously about him not bringing through youth - but that doesn't matter to Micalijo - apparently it was such a close fit, he was 100% CERTAIN it could ONLY be SOD. And it's doubtful he'd be passionate about the job. So here is a short list of people that fit the description just as well - or better than SOD:

Nigel Clough
Mark Robins
Gus Poyet
Tony Mowbray
Gianfranco Zola

...the could go on.

couldn't have poyet as manager, chances are if he got the job he would bring taricco in as his assistant and i want that little twat nowhere near our club

Yeah, just want to add that this list is not endorsed by myself, or guys I wanted more than anybody else. They just fit the description pretty well.

Well said that man!!

He's like a stuck record ( although a stuck record is more entertaining ) with his tirades against our longest serving player

You admire that eloquent style of argument? If so, is it because you lack intelligence? In that case it is forgivable. If not, you should be ashamed of yourself. Have you tried BladesMad?

Can you please come up with a list of realistic candidates who Birchy was talking about?
