A Sheffield City Council blinder

Yea, it turns out that most of the humps around the trees weren't anything to to with the roots, it was layers and layers of tarmac that had been shoveled on over the years as a botch job. So the council, and it's useless contractor Amey, have spent millions destroying mature trees and replacing them with twigs. This at a time when cities need tree canopy cover more than ever to help prevent pollution and over heating.
I've seen several posters on here complaining about various issues with the council.
If you want change then do something about it by signing this. Only 9 out of the 84 councillors are making decisions about what happens in our city!!
This needs to change.

Julie Dore and her lackeys should and will be brought to account for what they did in the name of corporate greed. They had decent people arrested and imprisoned to allow AMEY destroy our environment. Time after time, dozens of police ( the ones supposed to protect us) stood by as pensioners were assaulted by security thugs. If you weren't there to witness it, you wouldn't believe it could happen on the streets of Sheffield.

I said at the time that we would win and we did. Where there was conflict we now have three groundworkers in a truck doing what the lieing bastards at the council said would cost millions to do and doing it in a nice friendly way.

Need to get to the root of what SCC/SYP/AMEY have done to honest and decent people plus thrown millions of our money down the toilet. If they hadn't been so arrogant, assuming they could get away with doing anything they wished without question, it wouldn't have come to this. The Rustlings Road fiasco was the start of it for me. It was obvious something was wrong when a Council, a Labour council, used Thatchers anti trade union law to arrest innocent citizens. I said at the time that we would win and was called a "gobshite" on here for telling the truth about this corrupt council. Well the " Gobshites" have won, Dore and her lapdogs will get their comeuppance and hopefully their day in court.

No problem with that, it's democracy. Unfortunately in Sheffield, the cabinet is made up of a very small group who make all the decisions with dire consequences for any Labour councillor voting against it.

They are about to subject us to a congestion charge that will raise to start with about £40 million a year, then 12 months later it will include cars entering the zone adding a further £78 million per year to their coffers blaming a rise of CO2 in the atmosphere. My question that they have still to answer 3 weeks later is what are they going to do with the extra revenue.

Cars aren’t included in the zoning at all.

I’m no fan of the council, but I think some of the bigger questions need pointing to central government and austerity measures.

The council have had their budget cut by 50% or so in the last 8 years. How would you propose that they overcome this deficit whilst still keeping services going?

That said the crackpot trees saga was an absolute clustefluck idea and I hope that those involved with the contact with Amey are brought to justice.

True! Cars are not included, but the data collected by the feasibility study on behalf of the Council has stated by adding cars to the congestion area would raise a further £40 million. With regards 50% budget cuts. How is it then that none of the senior managers have left or moved on. Incidentally we have 7 senior managers witha salary and pension contributions made by us of over £2 million per year. What about 50% off from them to protect services. Just another note This Council has cash reserves of over £200 million up by 22% from last year.

Disappointed to discover that this thread didn't consist of a cheap revamp of a story about crime, extortion and violent aggressive behaviour
I half expected it to be centred on a Sheffield family exerting their influence in the seedier parts of town, with their gambling rackets, fixing of sporting events, controlling officers of the law through blackmail and entrapment.
I thought they would be using city officials as blunt instruments to dissuade people from working in direct competition to them. Any trouble and they'd have their eye out with one.
