Yes, yes, I know the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I think it's fair to say that he's succesfully done the first, and most difficult, part of what many thought on here would never be possible (me most definately included) - namely, securing joint ownership with someone who a) has money and b) is interested in football.

He's cocked up in the past, but for the above, the man is due a pat on the back and a Baccardi and Coke (possibly a pack of Nobbies Nuts as well, lets see).

Yes, he has made mistakes, I am hoping that this will have turned the corner for us. A workmate of mine who is a Wendy has always criticised McCabe, he was quiet today!

Yep!

Well done McCabe! Club in the shit, owner and chairman slowly drawing the blood from it's veins. The day after the transfer deadline, it's announced that a Saudi based investor wants in.

I mean. What can go wrong?

We could have not found an investor, not brought in 2 midfielders, sold Long and got relegated?

Yes i would like to congratulate Kevin on bringing this gentleman on board.

Hopefully this will be a success & we can look forward to some stability & getting back to were we belong.

Meanwhile in the real world, we're a few places above the relegation zone to division four.

Well my pot is half full, and I can't understand, given what we have endured in recent years (or is it decades?) why anyone should feel any different.

When I initially heard about Saudi investment in United I felt sick in the pit of my stomach, for non-footballing reasons. As a supporter, I am pleased at the potential financial benefits of the investment but can’t help feeling some sadness that the club that I have supported all my life ceased to exist almost overnight.

However, life goes on and, although my views remain unchanged, we would have been mad not to say thank you and take the investment before our club disappeared down the pan. United are now effectively a different club operating in the modern world and, in my view, the act of accepting that investment does not mean that we condone the less savoury issues associated with the investor’s homeland. The two issues are completely separate.

I am reassured that Kevin McCabe has kept a hand on the controls of the club and that allays to some extent my fear that the current trend for mega rich foreigners taking control of a British football clubs is just a passing craze with the clubs being nothing more than a fashion accessory, to be abandoned when something else takes their fancy.

So hopefully it is onwards and upwards; we will see!

Doesn't anybody find it incredibly odd that this happens the very next day after the transfer window shut? Can't possibly be a coincidence. The deal must have been in the pipeline for months. If Mr fancy Saudi pants was so keen to invest in the first team, why not make sure it happens in time to sign a few more players? It's not like we don't need them. The logical conclusion would be that it was deliberately held off until now, so they didn't need an excuse to not buy players. Now McCabe, Weir and whoever else get a free 4 months of fans support cos of the future investment. Call me a cynical old git, everybody else does, but i won't believe anything good will happen until it actually does.

The first transfer window in years where we have not sold some of the young players, one player out but two brought in :confused: anyone stopped to think that announcing investment before the deadline would have doubled the asking price for players we were interested in at a stroke. Even if we can't be happy that someone is at last investing in the club at least be happy we have not sold anyone without replacing them with someone better, who would you rather have 5 decent games per season McDonald or Baxter and Cuvelier ???

but we couldve AFFORDED the doubling in asking price for once... erm... couldnt we? as it stands we've replaced mcdonald with two other midfielders to supply this desperately needed supply of balls for the great strikers we have who haven't scored so far because of the lack of supply.....

A huge Thank You to Kevin McCabe. Despite some terrible mistakes he has always had the best interests of the club at heart. Some of the (often libellous) nonsense spoken and written about him is now exposed as the claptrap it always was,

He has kept our club afloat for years. Lets hope he (and we, because we've all suffered) now get the good times we so richly deserve.

I'd like to think that Mr Saud would have come in two weeks ago, and instead of supposition that Cuvelier and Baxter would have been twice the price, fuck that and lets go shopping in the Championship or even benchwarmers for the PL. Is anyone actually serious when they don't see the 'un-logic' that comes about when an investor comes in the day after the transfer deadline shuts? Let's face it, we haven't exactly landed ourselves consistent, confidence-building matchwinners in Baxter and Cuvelier - much the same as the rest of the 'great signings' we have had to endure for the past five shit-stopping games. And so it goes. No real prospect of tearing up trees from now until whenever with the prospect of mid-table ignomy in England's third tier (which is exactly where we are - today) and the crowd slowly staying at home/finding better things to do on a Satdi whilst Mr Saud sits in the stand with a Blades shirt over his dish-dash wondering what the fuck is going on below him on the pitch, the remaining fans booing, Wier handing in his resignation and McCabe rubs his hands at the prospect of the club going under with a co-investor to lighten his load.

It's almost like Hashemi all over again ...

ps. The way Maguire and Long have been playing, don't count your blessings ...

The deal has been in the works for months but I imagine the legal work between Saudi and England was complex and legal work would have been more important to be done properly than to have it rushed through lawyers for a transfer window .
I'm sure McCabe would have liked to have had it completed before the season had started.

I like how this Cuvelier bloke is pretty much the new Eric Cantona cos we signed him. Never played a game for Stoke has he? Obviously not deemed good enough or they wouldn't let him go. Not saying he won't do well, or even prove Stoke wrong, but as of this moment the guy is a nobody. Murphy has achieved much more in his career and look at how many people are moaning about him being crap. Maybe wait until we proclaim him a footballing god.

And we didn't sell anybody cos we haven't got anybody left to sell.

Utter nonsense. Samantha was a complete charlatan with no substance or means at all. This fellow is a Saudi Prince of considerable substance. I suspect some of you will put any spin on this good news rather than contemplate praising Kevin McCabe. I have no such inhibitions. Well done Chairman. You are a true Blade.

Baxter and Cuvelier are proper talented young footballers of real abilty and potential. Yes, they are match-winners as it happens. Most fans are delighted to have them but, of course, if it doesn't suit a particular agenda....

Do we have to be cynical about everything? We've been crying out for investment for years. It arrives and we still fucking moan. We have some of the worst 'supporters' in the land, bar none.

I'd argue that practically ever club has 'some' of the worst supporters in the Land.
