Yes it’s been slow progress. Which inevitably brings frustrations.

BUT.

The huge task of our squad overhaul already looks better than our recruitment this time last year. Very few unknowns being brought in which “feels” good to me.

Yes they all have to gel along with more bodies to come in through the door.

But I am defo starting to believe our recruitment department might just be getting more things right than wrong this time. Which is nice for a change !!

the midfield all need to be chipping in with a good few goals.

When we were promoted under Warnock we had some 13 or so players who scored.

If we sign a competent goalkeeper I’m firmly in the ‘we’ve got a decent first 11 but not much depth camp’.

I don’t think we’ve got enough goals in the squad to be serious promotion contenders but loan signings may address this in the coming weeks.

We’re hopelessly ill prepared for the start of the season (again) but the Championship is more forgiving so we may be afforded a few weeks grace.

Hopefully someone at the club pulls their finger out and we sign:

GK, RB, CB, Forward x 2

We really can’t afford to be selling Hamer either, sell Anel and Souza if we need money.

CB and RB signed, really really need a GK and at least one forward.

A threadbare forward line will cost us heavily this season if it’s Kieffer Moore and Brewster as the 2 senior options.

I've been thinking this, wouldn't surprise me at all if we line up 5-4-1 on Friday just because of what we have at the moment. I've wanted us to sign defenders all summer, mainly because I didn't rate most of what we had, and now we've signed 5 we suddenly look top heavy at the back and bereft of numbers up front.

And I hadn't even thought about the keeper situation! That being said if we can get two (one at least) attacking players and a keeper in we're shaping up to be a stronger side than I'd hope for back in May.
