I travel to plenty of games other than United one's and have done for years, mainly as I've many friends down south.

I value their opinions as I do everyones but I don't subscribe to the idea that seems to be being portrayed here that their opinions on this season are more valid than anyone else's because they have played for the club.

What is it about the fact they played for the club years ago that makes it as such?

Haven't read Gagey's piece here although I've heard him on the radio before and seems to have some valid points, however I don't go along with the 'he's an ex-pro, he knows what he's on about' line. There's plenty of ex-pros on tv and radio who talk absolute tosh <Chris Waddle anyone?> , so I certainly don't fall for the ex-pro = talks sense lark. We had someone in charge of the team last season who took talking shit to a whole new level.

That may not be slagging off by your own high standards, but it's showing less confidence in the manager who chose them than might be expected from somebody who actively wanted him as Adkins successor before he got the job.

It must be a difficult line to walk, being consistently negative, with your choice for manager in the job.....

By chance yesterday, I had quite a long conversation with an ex professional about his career and football in general. It made me realise how much he obviously knew about the game including what goes on behind the scenes and how I just have a set of opinions based on watching a few games ie not based on the reality of what’s involved in becoming a professional player and how football management works (or not in the case of some examples he gave me !)

He has nothing to do with United but has played at top clubs and was an International player who has played at the World Cup.

Won’t stop me posting my thoughts on here, ha ha ! But when all said and done we’re supporters desperate for success and we need to realise Wilder knows more than we will ever know about putting a side together. I hope he’s the right one and we get success.
