I do not usually post this in the know type info but here goes.....
RDM interviewed but wage demands to high! so no chance. Also interviewed yesterday was Steve McClaren!!!!

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere.

Decent source (not Bladesmad)

Don't shoot the messenger

Utb!

The former tidbit would rule out the latter too you would think.

Both would be wankworthy appointments.

McClaren would be a damn fine appointment, but only slightly more likely than RDM.

Not saying this is true or not, but I've heard something very similar about him being interviewed and I know others on here have too. Nothing about it being yesterday though.
But you know what this time of year is like for rumours and shit spreaders.

We could even sell McClaren Blade Brollys

I was told by a friend a who is doing some coaching at the adacemy that Mclaren was at the training ground last week (he told me on Friday).
He's a bit of a wind up merchant, so not sure if he was telling the truth or not.

Would be a good appointment though

That would explain why he's categorically ruled himself out of the Shammers post, cos he's got his heart set on the Sheffield United 'project'.

I think he would be a great appointment btw....never thought i'd say that after witnessing firsthand the Croatia debacle. Can't see it happening tho.

McClaren

Hope not England job well done if you are a Scot :-( and he took over Germans ex champions Wolfsburg they sacked him and have just missed being relegated.

FC Twente, won their first ever title with him in charge.
Middlesborough, won their first ever major honour with him in charge.
He also took them to the UEFA cup final, also kept them in the PL - which they subsequently failed to do after he left.

2 sides to every story aren't there?

Di Matteo - nothing really to lose, has managed two teams couple of promotions, left under a slight cloud
McClaren - Everything to lose. Whether we like it or not. Is a big name. Managed internationally, albeit badly, managed in european competition and managed european teams with mixed success.

Only thing with McClaren is, he's never not had cash, so would be surprising to see him arrive and get to spend nothing.

Speaking as a Scot, it would make McClaren being a huge success at the Lane all the sweeter.

His failure in the England job was obviously just his repressed Scottish lineage coming to the fore!

However, if he does get the job, we should insist that he learns how to spell his surname properly :-)

True!

Plus as Ferguson said, the England manager's job is a bit of a poisoned chalice anyway. Regarding Wolfsburg, it's common for German clubs to move erratically in the league - Hertha Berlin is a good example, and it is because of the fans ownership in clubs that can make them weaker financially. Not sure if this was the case at Wolfsburg, but it has happened with a lot of German sides. Schalke are another example.

True to try and be fair the the wally with the brolly he does have a decent record with clubs.

Its just he took the England job which means your career is doomed unless you win the world cup.

Although his recent stinker at Wolfsberg with a good squad has made me think twice about us getting him.

When he got the England job it was said that the only fans who were happy were Middlesbroughs.

He kept them up in the PL and built the squad around the young talent the club had produced. Look at where Boro are since he left? Not far off from where we are and they have had a much better squad than us IMO.

The Boro fans seem an ungrateful bunch but I bet they would rather be mid table in the PL rather than hovering around the shit end of the Championship.

True, but the trips to Europe were costing the fans a fortune.

Watching European footy tends to BUT not sure Steve was responsible for the costs of tickets and travel.

Dont get me wrong I am rather indifferent to the wally with the brolly but he is one of the better options out there at the moment for us. Certainly ahead of Peter Reid and Paul Hart for sure!

I was being sarcastic about the Middlesbrough fans lack of gratitude for what he achieved.

If it was up to me he wouldnt be on the shortlist, but I have no problems with him getting the job - he's a good manager.

Why on Earth would he turn down a Cheating Cockney team in the CHAMPIONSHIP to manage us even further down the leagues?

Errm because they are a cheating cockney team......? The West Ham job is a bigger poison challice than ours!

Just a punt but i'd say he wasn't telling the truth.
