Bartman, reference the bit about McCabe and the AGM. You seem to have forgotten our chairman hasn't a clue when it comes to anything concerning the football side of things and won't even be contemplating the possibility of our now nailed on relegation. Anyone who rubber stamps the signing of the worst bunch of players ever to be brought to Bramall Lane should be having a very good look at himself but we all know he won't be doing.

In defence of McCabe...it's the manager who asks for the players and asks the chairman to pay the wages. Imagine the uproar if it was discovered that the chairman decided who we would sign rather than the manager.

A Chairman will go on the manager's judgement for a player. The only thing he can(and should control) is the wages which it would appear he has failed to do

Fair do's, and you are of course correct. However I think anyone and everyone knew how poor these signings were at the time they were being made, and as McCabe was responsible for the manager appointment/retention at the club he has to take some of the blame.

Lord, just found this thread. I suppose given that folk actually know very little about the finances etc., and being very good at spending other folks money, it is just easier to speculate etc. To talk about a football match that all, almost all, may have actually seen, then extreme opinions become harder to defend - and there are few good conspiracy theories possible. I am here as a football fan, not a closet financier, so I will continue to skip a lot of what seems to serve some. But continue to hope that there will always be some talk of the team and players and some analysis of the game. As an exile I don't get to see every game, read the local rags, listen to radio or watch local TV news - sad to say but you folks are it. So I drag myself out here each morning to see what has washed up. The Forum is what it is becasuse of the people who type and read this stuff. Guess you just have to look after your own stuff. Ain't got time to fight, wish I could spend my weekends in the Lion and down at the Lane - just a dream. Whether good or bad the kids got a point, the Forum has changed, and it will again. I remain thankful that Foxy and Linz (and Silverfox) somehow put this together and still seem willing to tolerate, moderate and promote this site. They sure have my thanks, and forever UTB!!!
