i think i remember a time when we used to discuss football on here. Not the administration, not nonsense about property, guesses about financial matters to which none of us are party. The actual game of football, I mean - matches involving a team we all supported, performances of players, thoughts on what happened on the pitch - honest opinions shared without facetious back-biting.

Am I kidding myself? Have I made this up? It does seem so very long ago, but I would like to have those times back. Any takers? This is a desperate last call from an exiled Blade who feels he has lost a vital connection to the team and fellow supporters as debate on this forum has disappeared down its very own rabbit hole.

Just a shame that the administration, the property, the finances directly affect what you want to talk about.

Nonsense about property? Certainly is, multi-million pound cash losses as a result of property and that I'm afraid is the reason why no-one is really that bothered about the football anymore - McCabe certainly isn't. We've sold all our decent players and a big factor behind that was McCabe's property disasters.

No one has any connection to the remaining players, we don't own many of them anyway and there is widespread apathy and discontent at the same time. Fans arguing with eachother, fans taking the piss out of the players - you name it and it has gone wrong. Feelings run high and I'm afraid you aint going to see a return to what you want anytime soon.

Impossible to separate the financial disgrace from the football in my opinion.

When we came out of the hat first in the cup draw I was really hoping we would draw a team to excite. Who did we get? Aston Villa. I felt really disappointed yet years ago that would have been a tie to look forward to with them in the top tier and us in the second tier. Thoughts of giant killing would have sprung to mind. This time?

Zilch!

Is that because we all know who will win?

Top Post Mic - When will our fans stop walking around with their heads in the clouds?
We stopped talking about football when McCabe systematically dismantled the team to recover his dosh!

How can we talk about football when there is precious little of it displayed on the park - when this weekend we only have one 'striker' for want of a better desription to choose from because our squad is so threadbare, whose dual centre backs are loanees, whose only creative player is a loanee and whose management team ie McCabe and Birch blatently lie at the start of the season regarding no more loan players, supporting the manager, going for promotion etc leaving a rookie manager in deep sh!t without a paddle.
We stopped talking about football when McCabe went behind everyones back and sold Beattie for 30 pieces of silver and realistically blew automatic promotion out of the water and then had the gall to call it a 'Football' decision!

Have you thought that some people, with the best will in the world, just don't give a shit about the financial bits beyond "we're skint, deal with it"?

As long as there is a club that exists, plays in red and white and at Bramall Lane, some are satisfied. Not exactly happy, but satisfied.

Now some make take issue with that, but who are they to cast aspersions about others? Frankly, I've got more to be worried about than how Kevin McCabe sleeps at night.

Consider yourself very lucky if that's all you've got to be bothered about.

Believe me, I have a great deal more to deal with than that! But having watched the blades in over six decades don't start spouting of whats important to me !
I am a passionate supporter that would love the Blades to have had the success of a Liverpool, Man Utd or even a Forest but we haven't we have been let down on so many occasions!
Yes, we've been a tad more succesful than the Rochdales of this world but given the brief stints of success only fuels further ambition and the desire to be 'top of the tree'.
The financial aspect of the Blades is the reason we are where we are! We cannot dictate how much or if any financial support the directors can give to the club but
they are in a privilidged position as directors of the club and the hopes and aspirations of most of the 20,000 fans are held by these elite
Why shouldn't we have views and more importantly why are we sneered at when we air those views!

dear me. no-one's being sneered at - it just strikes me that all this stream of invective about finances etc seems like wanking in the petrol tank. It might be fun for you but ultimately it's not not going to help get the rest of us anywhere.

There is a reason why you don't see fan sites dedicated to private equity firms, property groups and banks. It's boring.

I think I've had my question answered already. Sadly there's no home for the likes of me here any more. Goodnight and good luck.

No one is arguing that you shouldn't have views,Fiery, but people should also be allowed to have views that differ from yours(and other peoples') standpoints .

Alot of what you say is correct but the problem I have is that there is bugger all we can do about it as McCabe controls everything until someone buys him out.He has gambled, made mistakes and now we are suffering.

If fans stay away, the purse string will get tightened further. The only thing I can think of is for shareholders to attend the AGM and put pressure on McCabe to ensure sufficient funds are provided to ensure we have a chance of staying up. In addition, also ask him about the ethics of what he has done with the clubs finances over the last 12 months.

If we are free from external debt in 2013...what would be the problem in having £2million now to ensure the wages are covered for Speed to recruit in January. McCabe surely isn't going to call in his debt is he ?

This is not blindingly accepting that McCabe is perfect,it's just from my perspective with regards to The Blades, getting relegated could lead to a long term downward spiral.

I totally agree Bartman and I for one feel for Speedo who has taken the job and now has two hands tied behind his back!
I for one would love to talk about football but having read the BIFF thread - £10million on wages - someone or ones are having a mega laugh at our expense!
Look how they have performed this season - it would certainly be interesting to see the wage bills of other Championship clubs!

How about a new section on the forum so those who want to discuss the hotel, realty, freehold etc can do so in peace?

I don't have a problem with these discussions by the way but it does get very boring when the same discussions are repeated ad nauseum by us fans who in the end know very little truth.

It's time we let the past be the past and look forward to a brighter future. I personally feel McCabe with all the best intentions has ultimately made many costly mistakes over the last 4 years but talking about them endlessly won't change the past or indeed alter our future. Most of us are in agreement about the mistakes that have been made and a lot of the infighting recently has been painful to watch.

The one thing we absolutely can't do as a club is get relegated this season, I fear it would be a massive climb back up which might take years and as supporters we must continue to offer support wherever we can to ensure this doesn't happen. I hope to high heaven that Birch does his job and finds some way of supporting Speed in January and hope Speed does his job in terms of getting the right people in but we need to do our job when we're at games and try and muster up enough support to make sure we reach safety this year. I certainly don't expect relegation but it's a possibility if everyone at the club - board, manager, players and fans - continue to allow the downward spiral we've been on over the last few years.

Good suggestion. To be honest, I think it will die down after the AGM when everyone has headed down and vented their spleen.

We are know where we are - a fair few crap players with a sprinkling of decent ones. We just have to get behind them again.

Derrywan - I'd have more sympathy for your point of view if you'd made a post about football yourself since 31 August, when we were treated to 2 lines about Anthony Stokes.

The entire Private Equity thing is relevent because it ultimately effects what goes off on the pitch. Fans are better informed these days so thats where it leads. If you want to talk about whether its 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 then I think there is scope for that. Problem is what comes out of the club is what is reflected on these sites. How many interviews do you see with Speed and the players these days over the ones with Birch et al?

I never get these suggestions from posters who don't want to digest the financial stuff or grapple with the questions.
Who is stopping you from posting about players, formations, the manager, the kit, the colour of the grass to your heart's content?

Fiery I think you've totally missed the point of Linz's post.

She makes the point that some posters are fully aware that we've been financially screwed, and are just getting on with supporting the players and manager and getting behind them to win football matches. They choose to not bother about what so and so did about x, y and z, and just concentrate on the main business of supporting 11 players on a pitch.

Yes, the chairman has made errors, name me one that hasn't! And you're perfectly entitled to whatever opinion you may have on that, as is anyone. But how is making the same points over and over in various threads going to change that. It isn't, imho.

You've made your point several times about how unhappy you are about the financial issues, as have the other suspects, we've all got your opnions stamped on our brains and in the threads of this forum. I think that should be that now.

Let's concentrate on supporting the 11 in red and white every Saturday, that's the important stuff!

Didn't understand the title of this thread (can we ban shite languages on here)

However, I agree with the sentiments of this thread (and the post by Linz) that sometimes, some of us don't actually want to spend hours/ days/ weeks/ months/ years banging on about the financial side of the club.

For me this is for a number of reasons:
Firstly, I'm a football fan first, I (think) that I know more of the football side.
I spend my working hours talking business, do I really want to come on here and do the same?
We don't know the full facts, we know a lot, but we don't always know the full picture. Too much speculation gets caught up in fact.
Personally as a shareholder & season ticket holder I have put my faith in the club to do whats right for the current stability of the club, but most importantly the long term future of the club. If this means peaks and troughs in our clubs life then so be it.

Sometimes I do get involved in the off field side, sometimes I don't.

Finally, i'm not going to criticise those who want to talk about our club in whichever way they want, but (and heres the great thing Lenners) I don't have to read those threads or even contribute to them

If this means that my heads in the clouds then great, its just another pigeon hole for me to go into ;)

Ps anyone ever thought of pitching Sky Sports Business News HD to Sky?

It gives me no pleasure, but I'm with len on this.

I don't see how the 2 issues can be seperated. We are going to have to be extremely lucky to have any chance of promotion in the coming years - and the reason for that will be the debt that we are in. It may not be "external", but let's not be fooled that the shed load we owe McCabe isn't going to prevent a realistic chance of other investment, or lending, coming our way.

The 2 can't be seperated. Most of those who want to are those who have sung McCabe's praises so highly that they can't bring themselves to say "I got it wrong".

Well I was a fan in the past. And I GOT IT WRONG.

McCabe's actions have dirtectly affected the quality of football that I'm going to have to watch. Others may not be bothered, I am. And no, sounding off about it will affect nothing. It's only slightly less daft thatn pretending that our financial mess doesn't really matter.

The next line is that we should all prepare for a bright future of young Sheffield talent week in, week out. Well, it wont happen. If we rely on that we'll be relegation fodder and the ranks declaring that's what they've always wanted to see will dwindle on a weekly basis.

UTB

Also with len on this. If you want some footballing threads, start one.

I personally miss the mad threads from the general chat section. And keenzy's P&T contributions have dried up too (Though that last one was a corker :D)

Unfortunately I agree with post parties as unfortunately one is impacting on the other. We need more moderators on the forum, so when football chat is suddenly changed by the likes of Len etc; then someone either comes and a long and closes it or deletes the thread which has gone off on a tangent> i don't wish to be a moderator myself however it works very well on the NFL site I go on and alot of the repeated posts get deleted

Ah yes,the last P & T contribution.

Great fun.

Unless like me you use the "New posts" filter.

And don`t check which forum a post is in.

At work.

TWICE!!

Posts from the P&T don't show up on the new posts bit on my work computer. Perhaps that's because i have never entered the P&T password on my work computer?

Linz/Foxy can you clarify? :)

Yeah I think thats probably it...

I only have myself to blame

it's not just matter of starting new footballing threads though when posters ultimately post the same thing across multiple threads mutliple times. I think some people just need to try and be more aware of how boring this can become.

We need more moderators on the forum...

I would counter that by saying no we don't... we just need our members to use the forum responsibly like the adults they profess to be.

Bartman, reference the bit about McCabe and the AGM. You seem to have forgotten our chairman hasn't a clue when it comes to anything concerning the football side of things and won't even be contemplating the possibility of our now nailed on relegation. Anyone who rubber stamps the signing of the worst bunch of players ever to be brought to Bramall Lane should be having a very good look at himself but we all know he won't be doing.

Seriously, how's that working out for you so far? The other suggestion would be to have a boardroom section which I think someone else has suggested
