I come in peace! I'm coming up from the midlands for saturdays game, is there safe parking near the ground? What pubs are away 'friendly'?Is there anywhere within the away end to hang a large flag?Apparently we've sold around 1800 tickets for saturday and with a home sell out it should be a great day!

Hey there. For parking near the ground it's really a case of "first come, first served" if you park in the streets, and anywhere should be ok provided your car isn't covered in Cardiff stickers. There should be room for you to hang a flag or at least drape it across a few seats.
As far as "away friendly" pubs, I've no idea, but when away fans have come into one of the pubs that I use before the game there's been no problem, even though the pubs have "home fans only" signs up. It depends on behaviour. If you are singing loudly and waving flags then you'll get told where to go, but if you're not taking the piss then I can't see you getting any grief.
Should be a good atmosphere, Welsh fans are noisy buggers!:D

Hello :)

We've written our own guide for away fans HERE

Parking:

Bramall Lane is situated in a residential area and so there’s much competition for the free on-street parking. Coupled with this, Sheffield City Council’s Parking Wardens have been out with their tickets on match days to catch those parking illegally on roads around the ground. Therefore, unless you get to the ground extremely early, a car park may be your best bet.

Being close to the city centre, there are a variety of car parks to choose from. Along on Furnival Gate, there is an NCP Multi-storey car park (S1 4QJ) however, probably the cheapest option in the area is the Sheffield Train Station car park (S1 4AA) - 4 Hours parking costs £4.50 while anything over 4 hours and up to 24 hours costs £10.00*. Avoid the Staples and Decathlon Car Parks across the roundabout from the ground… parking is strictly limited to 1 hour with parking attendants on duty to issue tickets.

If you are reluctant to drive into the city centre, you have the option of coming off the M1 at junction 34 and parking for free in the Meadowhall Shopping Centre car park. Again, get there early, as on Saturdays, competition for spaces is fierce, especially close to Christmas. You can then use many means of public transport to get to the Lane.

The X78 (Sheffield) First Mainline bus from stop A1 in Meadowhall Interchange also takes about 20 minutes to the Pond Street Bus Interchange in the City Centre. Ensure you are getting on the Sheffield-bound bus however, as travelling the other way, you’ll end up in Doncaster! Sheffield day Savers on Mainline buses cost £3.50*. For timetable information, see the Firstgroup’s South Yorkshire website.

All the Supertrams from Meadowhall go through the City Centre and you have a number of stops to chose from. The easiest is probably the Castle Square stop and it’s then a matter of walking straight along Arundel Gate to Bramall Lane. A Day Rider ticket for the trams costs £3.00*. For more information, see the Supertram website.

Just a warning about Meadowhall Retail Park. They've brought 3 hour parking restrictions in and people have been ticketed. It's worth heading that bit further to the shopping centre proper and leaving your car there.

*Prices correct at time of writing

Pubs:

Around the ground, The Railway, The Cricketers, The Golden Lion and The Sheaf are definitely and most certainly home fans only.

Away fans - If you're travelling in by train, The Howard (S1 2LW) across from Sheffield Station is usually packed with away fans and The Royal Standard (S2 4AX), on the way from the station to the ground allows away fans in depending on the fixture. Otherwise, The Earl (S2 4DU) on Queens Road accommodates away fans.

The landlord of The Devonshire Arms (S11 8JB) on Ecclesall Road has been in touch with us to say that their pub is also regarded as an away pub by South Yorkshire Police. They offer off-street parking and food on matchdays.

Hope that helps :)

Should be a decent enough crowd as far as we're concerned with only single seats left in some home areas of the ground and I know Cardiff fans usually travel to the Lane in good numbers. Depending how many seats you've sold, there might be some space for your flag to be draped like SV says, but I'm sure I've seen some people hanging flags at the back of the away end on the wall somewhere.

One unfortunate warning though, apparently our stewards in the away end tend to be a bit narky and are extremely eager to throw people out, even when it looks like they aren't causing much bother at all.

I hope you enjoy your trip (just not too much, we'd like those three points!) :D

Many thanks! Enjoy the game!

We will if we end up with three points :)

I've seen a few people doubting our chances against you though.

If you're interested, our match discussion is/will be HERE

We'd certainly be interested in hearing what you think after the game :)

Cardiff fan - allow plenty of time, the M1 can be a pain on a saturday. Also with street parking there is plenty as long as you get there an hour or so before the match and are willing to walk for 10 minutes. As other people have said most pubs are fine as long as you are not taking the piss. Good luck - apart from during the match !
