Bramall Lane is situated in a residential area and so there’s much competition for the free on-street parking. Coupled with this, Sheffield City Council’s Parking Wardens have been out with their tickets on match days to catch those parking illegally on roads around the ground. Therefore, unless you get to the ground extremely early, a car park may be your best bet.
Being close to the city centre, there are a variety of car parks to choose from. Along on Furnival Gate, there is an NCP Multi-storey car park (S1 4QJ) however, probably the cheapest option in the area is the Sheffield Train Station car park (S1 4AA) - 4 Hours parking costs £4.50 while anything over 4 hours and up to 24 hours costs £10.00*. Avoid the Staples and Decathlon Car Parks across the roundabout from the ground… parking is strictly limited to 1 hour with parking attendants on duty to issue tickets.
If you are reluctant to drive into the city centre, you have the option of coming off the M1 at junction 34 and parking for free in the Meadowhall Shopping Centre car park. Again, get there early, as on Saturdays, competition for spaces is fierce, especially close to Christmas. You can then use many means of public transport to get to the Lane.
The X78 (Sheffield) First Mainline bus from stop A1 in Meadowhall Interchange also takes about 20 minutes to the Pond Street Bus Interchange in the City Centre. Ensure you are getting on the Sheffield-bound bus however, as travelling the other way, you’ll end up in Doncaster! Sheffield day Savers on Mainline buses cost £3.50*. For timetable information, see the Firstgroup’s South Yorkshire website.
All the Supertrams from Meadowhall go through the City Centre and you have a number of stops to chose from. The easiest is probably the Castle Square stop and it’s then a matter of walking straight along Arundel Gate to Bramall Lane. A Day Rider ticket for the trams costs £3.00*. For more information, see the Supertram website.
Just a warning about Meadowhall Retail Park. They've brought 3 hour parking restrictions in and people have been ticketed. It's worth heading that bit further to the shopping centre proper and leaving your car there.
