A few observations from the stats (Swans):

- unlike last week, we cannot possibly mount any argument that we were unlucky. We lost the xG by 1.17 v 0.40, with the second half xG below 0.10, and with no shots on target at all.

- the quality of our passing was the lowest for a long time, with the team average below 75%, and only one player over 80% (Seriki). As always these stats need context, and a team tactic of getting the ball forward more quickly will inevitably have lower pass completion stats than a team which plays it around the back 4 for half the game. But they are still very much lower than you’d expect.

- we made only 4 key passes (passes leading to a shot) two from Burrows, and one each from Bindon and One. Burrows also made most crosses (8 out of 16) and most accurate crosses. Creativity was pitiful and Hamer looked lost. O’Hare should never play wide.

- in line with the above, Campbell had no shots, no dribbles, no key passes, no crosses, and attempted just 5 passes. Cannon had exactly the same stats but with just 3 passes attempted and 5 touches overall. The disconnect between the midfield and attack very stark.

- defensively it gets no better. Robbo won no tackles, made no interceptions, and won just one header. Bindon won one tackle with no interceptions, and won 4 headers.

- Peck is becoming a mystery. He won most tackles, won most headers (surprisingly) and had most shots. Yet his lost possession and aimless amble back for their goal rightly caused the anger of Cooper (who is normally as mild mannered as Penry).

I hope the team is transformed both in terms of personnel and approach in the next week or so. Millwall are a very strong team, and I fear the worst next week.

I’m off for a lie down.

I fear that unless we strengthen very quickly both Hamer and Campbell may choose to force through a move. Although there have been only a few rumours about Campbell, if he continues to get so little service I can see a club like Newcastle (who only have Osula as a striker at present) adding him to their squads as an option. His fitness remains a concern but his all round play and scoring ability stand out in the championship.

For once Danny Hall made a fair point in that Hamer had only 33 touches, our third lowest. Often he’s in our top 3 (as he was against Brizzle) and his involvement is usually key to our overall attacking strength. Sellles’s stated plan was to move him central to involve him more. That plan failed yesterday.

I don't think we even need stats to see that visibly the set up doesn't work in terms of getting Hamer on the ball.

It seems we want Barry on the ball, but his ability to keep the ball at his feet, make the right decisions with the ball or have any element of accuracy, so far looks league one at best. He's reminding me of Oli Burke in that he's very fast at moving his body but his brain doesn't seem to respond with the same speed

Similar, Seriki may have had a higher pass completion, but he was ineffective with it.

This!
That's exactly it. There is NO connect between midfield and attack.
Our strikers, whoever they are, get no service from midfield.
Cannon gets regularly slated. But he rarely gets any service. Campbell has pace to burn but never gets the ball in front of him .
Our defence is frail enough but our midfield does little in terms of defence capability nor aiding our attack.
Hamer is the best midfielder in the league but can't do it by himself.

Do you mean Newcastle that are in the champions league? Looking at tyrese Campbell it's possible I suppose but hopefully it will start a bidding war between them spurs and Liverpool as all 3 need a striker 😂
