A few observations from the stats:

- Burrows was back to his marauding best. Our team put in 17 crosses, 3 from Hamer, 1 each from Choud and BBD, and 12 from Burrows, including a fantastic cross for the assist. Indeed if we had made a few more near post runs in the first half we could have scored more. He also had most key passes, joint most successful tackles and perhaps surprisingly, most aerial duels won. Overall, on the stats he was our MOTM by some distance

- Anel with most successful defensive contributions (8) , a pass completion rate of 90%, one key pass and a couple of fabulous dribbles, is second in the ratings. Choud stats as a right back were poor with no tackles, and he appears more comfortable in centre mid.

- Vini had 96% pass completion, with joint second most tackles, and Peck with second most aerial duels and six defensive contributions made his presence felt! More offensively Hamer with most shots, most key passes, most successful drizbbles etc is getting back to his best. Hope he isn’t injured!

- Up top, Campbell had second most shots, one key pass, and of course a great run and goal. But he also had 100% pass completion rate, showing how effective he was as a sole attacker, either holding the ball up and laying it off, or running off the shoulder of the defender. I really want Cannon to show his value, but with just 11 touches in 33 minutes, no shots, no dribbles, no crosses, and 6 attempted passes with a lowly 50% success rate, does really stand out in comparison. I appreciate we tend to sit back when leading making it harder for our strikers but the graph showing team momentum fell off a cliff as soon as Cannon came on. Moore would surely have been more effective.

But another vital 3 points, especially as the plane pointers have started scoring. But let’s enjoy the win and move onto another key game on Tuesday. Wouldn’t it be funny if the Dirties was the team to wobble!

Thanks Cool. I suspect the fire and brimstone which Peck brings to midfield is rightly loved and valued by the fans but isn’t necessarily reflected in the stats. But always useful to read your analysis to gain a different perspective.

Our next 3 games are the hardest run we've faced .
Bristol City, decent away from home and borderline play offs and score plenty .
Wednesday away it's anybody game being a big rivalry but we play better away from home.
Coventry at very tough they are the form team .
7 points from 9 would be excellent.
Burnley will be the key game and hopefully we turn up at turf Moor and take a point .
I also can't see leeds winning at Portsmouth Sunday.

I completely agree. I always enjoy Deadbat’s report and read it with keen interest, and note the differences in his view as against the stats (neither of which are necessarily right or wrong!). Leaving the game, I would have voted for Peck (or perhaps Anel) as MOTM, but checking back at the numbers, I probably had underestimated the contribution from Burrows. Indeed I see from Roy’s report that some PNE fans noticed Burrows contribution too, although possibly because they were rumoured to be after him.

Looking back at your stats it seems of all our strikers only Campbell has the range of abilities to play our favoured system - or at least plays it better than the others (Moore probably next best) as he has that necessary combination of strength and pace.

But he also clearly still has fitness issues and again yesterday he was showing signs of hamstring discomfort before his substitution. Bristol City is a very important and difficult game and we can’t afford to be complacent. But with the Wendy match on the horizon I wonder if we wrap Campbell up in cotton wool this week, and hope a combination of Moore, Cannon and Brewster can see us through on Tuesday? Then unleash the beast again next weekend? Or perhaps I am emotionally giving the Wendy game too much importance!! Every three points should be worth the same?

If only I had the same psychic ability with lottery numbers…..

Plane pointers are the safest bet right now. Ludicrously solid defence and now scoring goals. Dirties probably best team on their day but hoping us and plane pointers are better at grinding out points in the run in. Touch wood!!

17 crosses but only one with quality. If we could cross better and more often we might score a few more.

Burrows first cross was also pretty useful with BBD nearly turning it in, and Campbell missing an open goal!
